I guess unrealistically I was expecting 60-65. I probably would have bought a smaller and cheaper scooter had I done more research. 13" wheels.
I have a feeling the new carb may have a smaller main jet than stock. Thanks Alley. I appreciate everyone's replies and patience.

I didn't ask you to buy something.....just to read something, and gain a little understanding of how a carb works. Lol. Who are you talking to?

I just pulled the bowl off the stock carb since it was just sitting in a box. It has a 108 main. Both the stock and new carbs are 24mm. I'm curious to find out what jet the new one has.

I'll have to wait for John to tell me what jet came in his carb.

Why would you knowingly sell me an incompatible carb? We spoke on the phone before I ordered it. So I need to re-jet? To what size? The valves were and are fine. How will lighter rollers translate to a higher top speed? The local scooter shop told me to not expect more than 55 and said the whole roller weight thing was more for the 50cc bikes because they lacked torque. I weigh 170. Thanks for the replies. I think we're chasing two different objectives though.

The rollers weighed in at 12.8 and 12.9g. I'm curious from those in the fueling camp what they think is out of whack. I'm on my second (upgrqded adjustable) carb and the scooter starts, idles, accelerates, and runs fine. I'm going to try to fit my pod filter today but need to find some hose and some pipe. I'll call a local scooter shop to see if they have any rollers.
Edited: after some thought and familiarizing myself with the cvt, I'm going to ride it for a while before I do anything to the variator. It seems that in order to gain top speed, I really have to change gearing, which rollers won't accomplish. Rollers just change the speed of expansion. Hopefully I can improve things a bit with the pod filter and carb adjustments.
Thanks again for the replies

Thanks. I'll take it apart tomorrow and weigh them.

Thanks. I understand that. Your dyno has nothing to do with speed (mph). I have 2 motorcycles so I'm on board with that. The engine revs to 8k+ under no load so that should rule out fueling and ignition. Its either the driveline or simply doesn't have sufficient power. I'm going to pull the CVT apart this weekend. Thanks for the replies.

It is going to be a combination of both the carburetor and variator weight. At stock my 150cc wouldn't pass 6000RPMs. No matter what. But first after installing a tunable carburetor, rejetting, and following Alley's guide it raised to 7000RPMs. Next I changed my weights from 13grams to 12grams, I top out just below 8000RPMs. I am very happy with the results and how she runs. Well, I'm not just looking to raise the RPMs. I need more top speed. It accelerates fine. I upgraded to a better carb so I'm not sure what rks is implying. Where is this "Alley's guide"?

Thanks for the replies. Are people using a variator tool to hold it to remove the nut? If so, which tool.

I'm not convinced it's the weights just yet because my scooter is slow as well. I'm leaving probably 10 mph on the table. I'm thinking maybe it's the clutch. The scooter has less than 50 miles on it.

It will rev over 8k on center stand but won't rev past 5900-6000 when riding, even down hill. I've adjusted the valves and replaced the carburetor. It has to be a driveline issue, right? Suggestions?

New to scooters but not new to bikes. I stumbled on to this forum and then to NYC Scooters a month or so ago. I ordered some ignition parts and when I received them, I had a question so I called them. John and I spoke for a pretty long time and he gave me a ton of useful information and advice. You don't get that a lot from online sellers. I just ordered some more parts and am sure will order even more. John is very helpful and responsive. I now consider him my go to resource for info and parts (I guess until he tires of me lol). I highly recommend him.
