At this point we need your wiring config. Do you have a yellow and white wire coming off of your stator? Do you have a wiring diagram in your manual? As suggested by the guys, you may have roasted your R/R and blown a diode. That would explain the charging loss. The relay theory would explain the headlight on all of the time but that would be unusual on such a small engine and especially a Jonway. So some pix of the stator and R/R wires would help. Yes, there is a yellow and white wire coming off the stator. Where should info from there

did you invert the battery cables (for a moment) ? The regulator is shorted internally , this is the item that is most likely the cause , it could be black in color . John I may have for a moment. How can I trouble shoot the black wire to see if its the cause

Hi, the most likely culprit is your headlamp relay. It was likely arced into a closed loop (means always on) circuit when you installed battery.... When you install a battery, it's essential that you hook up the positive cable FIRST. Do you by chance have a wiring diagram? If not, what is the exact model of your scooter. I was just informed a lot of the scooters do not have a relay for the head lamp. If it's not a relay, it may be a faulty switch....jonway yy50-qt-6

I did, the first time, have the neg. cord on the positive side and did connect the pos. first. My negative was partly red, from past owners, this caused my first short. What is the best way to test the headlight rely? can I replace the rely on this scooter?

Bike starts normally once started. Ran the bike, light stays on and eventually ran the batt low. Needed to kick the bike over.

I have a 50cc Jon way that I recently R2 my batt. When I first put the batt in, it blew the positive fuse. I R2 the fuse and connected another new battery to it. When I connected the batt. it sparked once the positive touched the terminals. Then, the head light stays on without the key in the ignition. Prior to this, there were no issues with the bike. I am stuck with this issue. Can anyone help or suggest anything.
