Greetings, frist time scooter owner here! I just ordered a Tao Tao 150cc LANCER from superiorpowersports.com yesterday.
What can I expect from scooter and the dealer. I know they have a lot bad press online but I believe that's from folks not understanding what they are getting in to. I fully expect a large 400lbs crate to be dropped on my porch with little or no work done to the scooter. They say do a PDI, do they? what do they really do? I am ready to to change both the oil and gear oil and check over every connection, hose vac line and nut and bolt before I even hit the stater.
I am not a kind of person that abuse's things and will not go over 25-35MPH max, (speed limits in town). In general if you baby the scooter, what kind of service life can I expect from this scooter? I hear repairs are often, I have no problems doing repairs (am very mechanically inclined cars lawn mowers etc). But doing repairs weekly or serval times a month would get tiresome ordering parts etc. I know they need oil changes like any engine.
Is changing every hose the spark plug and so forth really needed right off the bat to expect reasonable service 5-6 mile round trips?
Is a the scooter going to work for me, or is this going to be not a good fit? Thanks for your input!
