Alright so I have about had it with this scooter but my love of tinkering and the fact that I will not be beat (yet...lol) by a 2 stroke 49cc scooter keeps me going. Here is what I've done so far and what I know. -I have good spark, just rewound the pickup coil in the stator (this is a weird stator where the pickup coil is inside the fly wheel) Long story short I have a bright blue spark and all other coils spec out ok -New spark plug with proper gap -New gas -Tore apart carburetor verified needle valve is seating and cleaned jets and passages -I have 125 psi of compression when using starter motor, so compression should be good -Exhaust is currently unhooked -This motor has no valves to my knowledge it uses a reed valve right inside the engine block - does not matter if its warm or cold -Have good fuel flow at carburetor Now as you can hear in the video as long as we are engaging the starter it sounds like it wants to run and it is firing but as soon as the starter is released it dies. I have pulled the spark plug and verified the spark does not instantly go away when you let go of the starter button it fades away as the motor stops. This leads me to believe it isn't a short or a switch issue. The other weird thing is it will not run on starting fluid. The behavior is exactly the same and sometimes it ever quits firing like its flooded. Video Link: drive.google.com/open?id=1L2nTuACmrOLsdiwwvY965E_M_XRfUzNgIm hoping there is someone on here that can help me with this one. I have even gone as far as tracing the wiring diagram to fully understand the ignition system to see what could be causing it to die when the switch is released. This one has me stumped...

After not being to find a reasonably priced replacement. Does anyone know if it would be possible to swap from the current coil design to one that is still a 2 coil but with an external mounting ignition coil? Example 5 WIRES MAGNETO / STATOR for Chinese made 50cc, 70cc, 90cc, 100cc, 110cc, 125cc kids' ATV, GO-KART, DIRT BIKE, POCKET BIKE www.amazon.com/dp/B007IK841C/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_o9jPxb4RZW6PDDon't pay attention to the mounting holes. I will find one that works. Thanks in advance, I didn't think it would be so difficult to find a 2 coil stator with an internal ignition coil.

Hey all, thanks in advance for your help I will try to be brief in d receiving my issue. I was given a 2004 Hyosung SF50 that had no spark. I have torn it down and discovered that the voltages and resistances the stator produces/has is out of spec based on the manual. The problem is this is an old style stator with no external pickup coil. The pickup coil is internal (see pictures as the extra coil is actually the pickup). My question is I can't find this style of stator anywhere. Does anyone know if I can upgrade the stator to the normal design with an external pickup as you'll notice on the motor there is a place to mount one. I would love to find a replacement in kind but can't source one. Another option I have considered is rewinding it myself but I'm not to that point yet. Thanks for your help!
