Once again, thanks you Bashan and Alley! I now have a good idea of where I think I'm going with my first upgrades. I'm sure I'll post up once I get them in progress, and once when finished.

Whoops! I totally meant to put at the end that I'm riding a Roketa 150cc. So replacing my variator with maybe one from monstergy6 like these: www.monstergy6.com/product_variators.htmMy rev currently holds off at about 8k, so I'm pretty sure I have a stock restricted CDI. Will putting in an unrestricted CDI actually give me more speed? Does running at higher RPM's decrease the life of my scooter in any way? What is the point in re-jetting? If I do re-jet, what size jet is recommended? I don't want to sacrifice hill climbing ability, so I think I'll stick with the rollers I currently have. Also, I'm under the impression that if I want a little more go from a stopped position, then I can upgrade my clutch. Is that right? Thanks for all the assistance! I know I have a lot of questions, but y'all are really helping me out.

Hello one and all! First allow me to say thank you for all the help I have already received as a new scooter owner. I just rolled over 60 miles on the thing and have loved every minute of it so far. I have been thinking of some things I might like to do to my scoot (because I can't leave well enough alone!).
I live in an area where top speed between home and work is 55 MPH. My scoot will get to this point, but not if going uphill. I was wondering what changes I could make just to push out a few more MPH. Not crazy speeds, just maybe 60 on a flat surface.
So where should I start? Do some work on the CVT? I'm under the impression that changing the carb won't help my situation. An unrestricted CDI? What advice do you have for me Scooter Doc?

Wow, I have that in a completely different place. Will try this in a bit.
Thanks so much!
EDIT -
Victory is mine! After putting the needle guide back in the right place it would take the throttle!
After that hurdle, I was able to adjust my Air/Fuel ratio and my idle speed. I'm glad to report I now have a healthy scooter ready to hit the road!
Thanks to everyone for your help!

OK, so that thing should sit under the needle?

OK, I flipped that part around and still the same problem. It idles around 1500 RPM but dies when given ANY throttle.
Anyone know what to try next?

OK, so I took a shot and found what I think is the spot that part goes to. Now the scooter is idling again around 1500-1700 rpm. Unfortunately, any time I give it any throttle AT ALL, it dies on me.
Ideas anyone?

OK, now I have another problem: As you can see, it has been a busy day: As I was getting ready to re-assemble the carb, this small part fell out of one of the large openings, and I don't know where it goes! Can anyone tell me where it goes in the carb (or lead me to a picture)? Right now the scoot is in the condition of the first pic and I want to ride it again! ;D Thanks for the help!

On the schedule for tomorrow is to FINALLY make these adjustments and clean out my carb. Hopefully, this is the last question related to this topic:
Before disassembling the carb and cleaning it out, should I drain the fuel from the gas tank?

Once again, I'm amazed and grateful at the help I've received here. I have to wait until Sunday to try this out, but I'll let everyone know how it goes.
Thanks!

Alleyoop - As I said before, I have to give it gas while it sits there or it just dies and won't warm up. Is this ok? Also, with my dilemma, I don't want to be feeding gas while making these adjustments, so it might die on me before I can actually turn the screw. Is it ok to make these adjustments until it's getting enough fuel to stay idling on its own?

Hello all. I got my new scooter in about a week ago and after changing the oil and charging the battery, it seems to be running like a champ with one exception.
When I start the scoot, it idles around 2k RPM's. Is this too high? Should it idle at 1500?
After idling for about 2-3 minutes, all of a sudden, my engine stutters to a stop like it's getting no fuel. I'm just trying to let the scoot sit there and warm up and it dies. If I give it gas on the throttle, it runs fine and doesn't miss a beat, but that means I'm constantly on the throttle to keep it from dying. I can't let off at a stop sign or anything.
I've checked in the Air, Fuel, and Carb section of the forums and think I need to adjust either my idle, or air/fuel ratio (possibly both). I was just hoping for a little guidance before I started tearing into (possibly the wrong) things.

Superior Power Sports answered my request for info to buy a unit - 2 weeks after I emailedOK, it's the height of the scooter buying season, everybody in budget conscious America is understaffed. Did they answer your questions promptly when you called the sales staff on the phone? As someone who purchased from Superior Power Sports within the last month, I can honestly say, No, they don't return calls. See my reply in their thread.

And now my experience with Superior Power Sports:
I had spoken with McAlli previously about her problems with Superior Power Sports and had made up my mind to only trust certain parts of their services. As this is my first scooter, I felt a little more comfortable having some do the bulk of the assembly for and then me just checking it over. So I placed my order and sent my payment via wire transfer. Then I waited 2 days and had no word from them about whether they received my payment or not. I finally called them and they confirmed my payment was received and they would start assembling my scooter. Another week had passed and I still had not had any updates about when my scoot would ship or what was going on. I called back and was told that they were all backed up in the warehouse, but my scooter was prepped and ready. Again, I had to wait two days before I called back because they did not give me any shipping information. When I did call back I was told that the shipping department was all backed up too. I have certain expectations when I spend as much money as I had to receive better customer service than Superior Power Sports was giving me.
When I finally did receive my shipping information, it only tracked it to the lift gate service in Georgia. I contacted the shipping company and they told me I would be contacted by the lift gate service to arrange a delivery time. Great, because I had that Friday off and could arrange it for then. I received a call on Tuesday morning from the driver telling me he was an hour away from my place and would I meet him there? That pissed me off. Luckily enough, my supervisor let me go because we were slow, but I was mad at the lack of communication.
Well the scooter arrived and in very good condition. I checked over what I could see for tightness on bolts and body panels and all seemed very well. I charged my battery, changed out the oil, tightened the fuel line screw, and added gas. My scooter started right up after a few pushes of the electric start.
Now I'm just left to dial in my carb and get the scoot running 100% for my area. I also still have to register it and will post if there are any issues with that process.
As far as Superior Power Sports goes, I'm not thrilled with working with them. I am happy about having a running scoot and in the end, that is my biggest concern. Take it as you like it.
