That's so cool, I had one just like that in blue (I think it was an '80 or '81) when I was 14. I rode the snot out of that thing!

Do you have a wiring diagram for the scooter? Or a way to trace where the wires go? It shouldn't be too hard to wire in a standard 4 pin relay to replace that one.
Relays are nothing more then an over glorified switch, you have a low amp positive coming from your starter switch, a ground, and then the high amp wire from the battery and the wire going to your starter. Most aftermarket relays have the pin outs printed on top of the relay, so you just need to know your wiring on the bike.
10 or 15 bucks in parts and 20 minutes of time should have you up and running again.

I have little experience to bank on but I would say that sounds like it's operating as normal. When you let off the throttle the clutch disengages. When you accelerate again the clutch re-engages and starts pulling again and off you go. (sorry, I can't multi quote on Tapatalk). This was my first gut instinct, but it seems to me that it really shouldn't be so grabby. Like I said, I'm new to CVTs, other then one in a rental Versa and my folks Dodge Caliber, and neither impressed me very much, but I didn't notice any grabbiness to it. Then again we're comparing a $800 scooter to a $15000 car, so there's bound to be a bit of refinement difference there. It's something I can deal with if it's normal, but I don't want to damage the belt or clutch if it's not normal. Thanks to both of you for the advice!

I'll have to check this out, probably this weekend. Is there a specification or general rule of thumb for an acceptable amount of deflection on a CVT drive belt for a long case 150? Honestly, if I have to swap out the belt on a brand new scooter, I'll probably go ahead and swap out the rollers and clutch springs to increase the pick up on hills a bit. Need to do more research on that first.

Hello all, my name's Pat and I'm new here from SW PA. I bought a new 2016 back at the end of February, and finally got it legal for the road the beginning of May.
I've had a few bugs to work out, of course. The factory carb failed after around 20 miles, so I put a new carb on, I've also put a "performance" CDI and coil and have the factory ones under the seat as known good spares. The only other mods are an NGK iridium plug, and a UNI filter, since the replacement carb was jetted a little rich out of the box. I've also changed the engine and gearbox oil before the first ride, and checked the valves when I did the carb. At this point she's running pretty well, and I've racked up 178km on her.
Now for the last niggling issue. I'll preface this with the fact that I'm new to scooters and CVTs, so this may be normal, but I find it slightly disconcerting. If I'm going downhill with zero throttle input, and I get to the bottom of the hill and roll on the throttle, the scoot will review and then jerk forward. It's as if it's rolling in neutral and then suddenly jumps back in to gear.
So is this normal behavior or is there a way to tune this behavior out of the CVT?
