I finally got it off a few weeks ago. We had used an electric impact wrench prior to my post. (I may have omitted that!) Finally a friend with a compressor dragged it over, and I borrowed an air-driven impact wrench. That friggin' nut was off in 2 seconds! Victory!
I believe I'll invest in a small compressor and impact gun. I'm reassembling now. The rear nut (clutch side) was pretty beat-up. I had bought 2 nuts from a supporting vendor. The shipping was free, they came from China. It took a long time, but I had a long time. (It being winter still).
I swear I'm an idiot. I never tried them for fit. Of course the thread size was wrong. I hate putting a badly mauled nut on the the thing. I wonder where I can buy those correct nuts for the Linhai MC-54-250B, and get them within a week or so.
I have a Yamaha manual for the comparable scoot. Good god!. I never realized there were so many picky rules n' things to observe. I'm losing my innocence!

I have been away from a PC for a long time, so I am late in reading/thanking everyone. As always, much gratitude for the great and friendly info. Hope I didn't strip any gears. We'll see. I will buy an impact wrench and borrow a compressor, heat up the nut, and go crazy. Meantime, I ordered a couple replacement nuts from scooterpartsmania. They will be shipped on a slow boat from China, so I will report back in a month or so. Thanks again, Technoglide (Andy)

Hi Friends, I haven't been here for awhile as the weather is too cold to work on my scoot. But we had a couple warm days here in the ATL, so I rounded up my friends to conquer this problem. I’m overhauling a Roketa MC-54-250B with the Linhai engine. I'm currently working on the CVT assembly. I have good reason to believe the clutch needs to be replaced or at least degrease. I was able to remove the front assembly pretty easily. The amount of grease on the rollers was phenomenal. My local scoot mechanic said he had never seen grease in ANY roller assembly EVER before. I have cleaned everything I can get to so far. Pictures of assembly are at Photobucket address below. I NEED TO REMOVE THE CLUTCH ASSEMBLY OUTER NUT! Problem: I have used every method I know, including: 3 guys - 1 holds the chain wrench around the bell, one pushes the 4ft breaker bar down to loosen the nut, and one guy holds the socket/extension straight so as not to strip the nut. No dice. Unbelievable! We also tried the same method without a chain wrench. I took the scoot off the center stand, sat on the scoot, and held both brakes tight while my buds repeated the last process. This time it turned slowly, about 2/3 of a turn. But I'm FAIRLY? sure it wasn’t the desired nut turning. At least that was our perception. I have no Idea what else could be turning. But it can't be good, so we stopped after that. 5 Questions: A) What could have been turning in the last scenario, if not the nut? Is it damaging? B) How can I get this nut off without trashing it? It’s already a bit buggered-up. C) Assuming I can’t do anything with it, Can I use a nut breaker on it, as the nut has a wide beveled edge as well as the normal 6-sided area? (See pics). D) What is the part number, specs, and/or name of this exact nut? E) Where can I get another nut? The beauty supplies places around me (Sally Beauty, etc) sell graduated clear ketchup bottles. the beauty shops use them as disposables for measuring different ammounts of different colors to acheive a desired shade. You can imagine the fallout from a bad color job. So these things are exact, squeezable, with good visual quality. Some have angled tips that you cut to regulate flow. These work great for some bottom loading gearboxes, as long as the filler hole is horizontal. One of my scoots is, the other isn't. Thus my original question. Check these out. They rock.

Well Damn! That's pretty sweet. I did the right thing by accident. I appreciate you showing me that online manual. I actually bought a manual on CD, which was slightly wrong in some respects. I suspect it was for older models, perhaps in other countries. The PDF titles were in Italian, but the content was a real Kymco Manual written in English.
I had oil and gear oil changed at my first service, ~700 mi. I'm at 3000 now. The crankcase oil was black as tar, down almost to the fill point. The gearbox was at 2/3 full. I guess I'll need to check every 1000 or so.

Hi Folks,
I have a 2007 Kymco People 150. I was in the middle of a gear oil change when my pistol grip oil can broke. I let all the oils drain out. After some time I squeezed the premeasured recommended 180 cc into the top hole.
Why do we need to put it into the bottom? They tell you to fill to the fill hole drips, but .18L is CAST on my gearbox. As I understand, you can create slow leaks by overfilling (over-pressurizing) the gearbox.
Am I gonna be OK with pouring the oil in from the top?

Hmm. Thanks to all for the wisdom. I've ordered some foam material to cut a new air filter. I've never seen red silicone. where do you get it/formal name? Should I scrape the old partly peeled and torn gasket off prior to reinstalling the CVT cover? I've seen aluminum parts where it's better to leave old gasket, rather than scratching the joining surfaces. I like the window screen idea for the CVT filter. There's alot of black rubbery buildup from worn belts on the inside of the CVT cover. Do I need to clean it? If so, what solvent should I use? Thanks again, -tglide

Doing belated PDI on well-used 2008 Roketa MC-54-250B that I bought used. I talked to a shop that said to leave the cvt cover filter off, it restricts air flow, heat is hard on belt. I tore-up my cvt cover gasket during removal. Asked about that. Guy said it wasn't necessary, air flows through already, why need an airtight seal? Said it's hard to get air box filter, is mine really dirty. I would like opinions on these proposals. if you think they are needed, please supply a source that you have bought them from. Thanks, as always. You guys rock my scooting world!
