Also check your intake boot where the clamp holds it onto the carb. It will sometimes develop a crack there from being tightened down too tight. Mine looked fine from the outside but when I took it off the bike and inspected the inside of the boot where the carb fits in I found a split about 1/2 inch wide right where the carb seats.

Make sure you check it / flush it before you continue to ride. If there is a problem and it goes dry you could do a lot more costly damage. It takes only a few minutes to drain and refill, even easier then changing the oil and you'll thank yourself later because you're not chancing a long walk back home. Careful with the fill plug bolt, it strips super EZ.!

If you absolutely have to ride it do yourself a favor and take it for a quick spin before doing any longer rides. Check the plug and make sure you're not running too lean. I $4 missing gasket could cost you a new top end if you push it too lean.
