Thanks Alleyoop. This was one of the 1st things I did and it did nothing but spark - literal sparks. They were minor but there was no spinning and I have tried a couple of more times just to be sure and there was absolutely nothing - not even sparks.

OKay, here is what I did today:
Voltmeter reads 13V on battery with scooter not started. Bike wont start with electric start - all I get is clicking. Kickstart - takes about 6 or 7 times but it finally starts. Volts click up and down just a bit but then stead out at 13.4 while idling. Rev the RPM's up to 3-4K and the VOM reads 14+.
So this would indicate battery is being charged by regulator. Turn the bike off and the electric start still will not work but the kickstart cranks it right up.
Does this mean the starter is the problem?

thanks again. I just got it started with the new battery by kickstarting - took about 7 times but it finally started. If the starter was indeed bad, would it start with the kickstart - or do they have nothing to do with each other.
Also, annoyingly I dont have my volt meter right now. I put the trickle charger on the batter with it started and revved the engine. The voltage actually went down and not up. Could this indicate a regulator/rectifier issue or would I need the VOM in order to determine this?

If the new battery is turning the motor over BUT not fast enough only with a car battery it could be the starter is weak and rquires a lot of amps to really spin it. Alleyoop Thanks. Would this indicate a need for a higher capacity battery or just a new starter?

I purchased another 9ah battery and it wont start the scooter. It tries but it fails to turn over. Would a higher capacity battery work better?

Thanks everyone....
Rich - I did like you said and the bike started off the car battery so I guess my battery is toast. I dont understand how it can read fully charged but be toast.
So since this is the 2nd time this has happened, should I maybe look into some possible electrical problems causing this to occur.
Also, is there a preferred brand of battery that I should try?
Thanks!

As I am working on my scooter, I am getting so dirty because there is filth and grime on everything. Can you tell me what types of cleaners are safe to use? I need to get rid of this grossness. How do people keep their bikes looking so shiny?

Thank you. If I put the screwdriver across the two leads on the solenoid and I get no spark at all - what does that indicate?

Hi all- Can someone give me a link to where I can figure out if my battery is dead? My bike will no longer start and the last time this happened it was the battery. However, this time and last time, the battery is reading full charge on this bad larry right here: BUT, even though the last one read fully charged, when I put in a new battery, it started right up. I read a thread awhile ago about how to jump off the solenoid and all that stuff and was hoping someone could direct me to that thread or tell me what to do in order to be sure it is or isnt the battery before I go buying another one. Its a 150CC GY6 Roketa. When I press the starter button, it clicks once but that is all. It will not kickstart either. Thanks!

Thanks Rich. I can use the kickstand but its just not very sturdy and it scares me. I gust of wind or someone walking too close to it could easily knock it over. I park on residential streets when I go to work and I would hate for it to fall on to someone's car or even the ground.

Hi all - So yesterday the piece on my center stand in which I step on to put the bike on the stand broke off (from rust). I can still use the stand but the bike is heavy and I am tiny person - its a struggle for me to put my foot behind the stand and hoist the bike backwards onto it.
My question for you is do you have any creative ideas on how to keep my bike sturdy with the side stand while I await a new center stand? Or some other way to rig the center stand with something I can step on to hoist the bike back? I ride my bike everyday and apart from asking for help every time I park, I don't see another way to safely park my bike.
Thank you!

So this morning I went out to ride my scooter to work and this cord was laying on the ground. Here is a pic on the end of the cord. It is kind of hard to tell but its just a point - look as if it plugs into something. I have no idea what this cord is or where it goes. Can anyone help? It comes off my front tire on the other side of the disc brake. I will be taking the front off my scooter tomorrow to try to ascertain where it came from but am curious as to what, exactly it is since nothing seems to be malfunctioning on my scooter. Many thanks.

Hi all -
well I finally replaced my throttle cable. So the problem I am having is that I cannot get the bike to idle lower now. The throttle cable sits on the outside of the carb and at its most loose fitting (I think) it does not sit flush against the idle screw - so basically its as if I am pulling the throttle just a bit so the RPMs are around 4. I adjusted the top cable adjustment and the one right at the carb and I believe they are at the most loose they can be. Is there something I am missing? The cable itself has a lot of slack so I dont understand why I cant seem to get more slack into the spring....Please help....

Thanks Sprocket. When I pull the throttle, there is absolutely no tension and the cable at the carb does not move at all....

Hi all!
This morning while scooting to work my throttle suddenly lost all pressure and now does not give the bike gas when you pull on it. I am assuming that my throttle cable snapped as the pull has been kinda tight these last few weeks.
Can anyone comment on this and possibly direct me to an explanation on how to fix it myself? A month ago my battery slipped out and the cable snapped and the garage took 3 weeks to fix it so I am not keen on giving them this little project.
Thanks all!!!
