I have a Jonway YY250T and would like to install a taller windshield. Does anyone know where I can find one? All I can find are stock replacements.
Thanks Lencho

I too have had my battery go dead after a week or so leaving my bike parked. I was able to determine the lions share of the drain was caused by the alarm/remote starter system. Here is what I did to address the problem. installed a rocker switch. Located the red power wire for the alarm system, cut it and soldered the rocker switch in line. Now I can kill the power to the alarm when the bike is parked in my garage which results in my battery remaining charged Amp draw with alarm switched on. Amp draw with alarm switched off. Lencho

I found it! The location was actually located in the plastic that houses the battery. I had problems locating it since I didn't discover the loose solenoid until I removed the plastic and I was focused on finding the mounting location on the frame.

The solenoid has the rubber ring with the slit installed on it, it is the tang that I can't locate. Can you tell me where to look or post a pic?

I recently purchased a used 2008 Jonway 250 with 20 miles on it. I removed all the plastic to inspect the bike and found the starter solenoid just hanging by the wires. I've searched and there is no obvious place to attach it to the bike. Does anyone have a pic, or explain where it should be installed?
I am open to any other maintenance suggestion I should take care of while all the plastic is removed. I am planning on changing the engine oil, fuel lines, and final drive oil.

I didn't measure the pulley face, I will have to remember to do that next time I have it apart. I did weigh the rollers and they are 13 g.

So, let me share with you what fixed it!
I took tvnacman's advice and went to the scooter shop to buy a longer (842) belt. I was smart enough to bring my old belt with me (not normal) and immediatly noticed the new belt was much wider. My old belt had worn down from 20mm to about 17mm.
My thought is that the shorter belt (835) was too tight and caused excessive wear on the side of the belt. With a worn belt I was not taking advantage of high gear since after the variator moved all the way into high gear, the belt wasn't wide enough to ride on the outermost part of the drive pully.
With the old belt I ran 60 MPH at 9500 RPM With the new belt I run 65 MPH at 8200 RPM
Much better!!!
Thanks for the help guys

Not sure of the pulley diameter and I'm out on town so I can't measure it. The belt is 835 20 30.

When alleyoop shared the ratio of weights to rpm, I assumed he was referring to WOT rpm. In my mind, the only way to do that is for the heavier weights to move the variator inner gear further resulting in a higher gear. After reading the other responses I now wonder if he was referring to rpm at which the variator starts to shift. I marked my variator and ran up the engine (on the center stand, not driving it) and the attached pic shows the result. Does it look like there is unused high gear I could take advantage of with heavier weights? Lencho

Should I decrease the WOT rpm, or am I ok as long as I keep it at or below 9000 Rpm? If I increase the roller weight to decrease the rpm, will that also decrease the mph or will the heavier weights also cause the variator to shift into a higher gear resulting in a similar max speed?

I have a 150cc scooter and the tach shows the redline at 9000 rpm. At WOT on a flat road the engine will rev over the redline, as high as 9500 while traveling at 60 mph. I have read here that the max rpm should be limited to 7000 - 8000 by changing the weight of the rollers/sliders. If I install heavier rollers and decrease the rpm, will I still reach 60 mph? Is there some magic spreadsheet or chart that can help me keep from spending $200.00 on trial and error and ending up with 8 extra unwanted sets of rollers?

While waiting for the delivery of a new spacer and gasket, I decided to take kz1000st's advice and check the valve clearance. The intake was set at .0025 and the exhaust was tight with no gap. Set both valves at .004 and all is good now. She idles like a sewing machine at 2000. The only explanation I have is the the exhaust valve wasn't closing completely and allowing exhaust to be drawn into the cylinder during the intake stroke resulting in a lean condition.
Thanks kz1000st and everyone else that gave advice.

I am going to change the spacer and gasket. unfortunatly there are no scooter parts stores where I live. Before I order one on line, does anybody know if there are other scooters with the same spacers? What about the Honda Ruckus? There is a Honda dealer here that stocks all kinds of parts, but if you walk in and say "... chinese scooter" they show you the front door.

I was unable to verify that the spacer is leaking by spraying water on it. Of course, the fan shroud makes it difficult to get access to the spacer, but no matter how hard I tried to get water around the spacer, there was no change in RPM.
Didn't check the adjustment on the valves yet and the engine is hot so it will have to wait for another day. Will valves that are out of adjustment cause the problem I'm having?

Here are the intake spacer pics. Does this look right? I will check the valve clearances tonight. Lencho
