Still riding a 50, however very shortly upgrading... I have done some general work to my bike including changing the clutch springs as it pulled away very slowly.. I also cleaned the carb and oiled spark plug. As it was boggy to start of and wouldn't go above the 20mph power band unless I got their gradually. After installing new clutch springs I noticed an immediate increase in acceleration speeds. Although it took longer to get to 60. After a while there acceleration dropped off and I started to hear a rattling noise, whilst changing the clutch springs initially, I noticed that the rollers were ran down anyway. I am wondering if this is the problem? I have a 9 speed variator set, so 9 rollers... I also don't know the weight, I found a roller set on eBay just in case this is the problem and I'm not sure if the power to weight ratio will mess up if I do just try them. Also, another part of my quest to sort my bike out, is finding out what's wrong with it and why it is boggy to start even after cleaning the carb. It starts up fine occasionally, however it stays under 20mph unless I accelerate gradually in which case I can go way over.. and it only does it occasionally, after the engine is earn it usually starts fine, what is the problem, I'll obviously provide more information if needed. So the questions are, why is my bike boggy to start and accelerate, and what is the problem with acceleration. Thanks very much for your time in advance. I would have writ this much more descriptively however it takes a long time writing on my phone. Thanks again

Fixed it! I found that the barrel was stuck on the idle speed adjuster which was preventing it from going down, hence why the throttle was on FULL constantly. Just a twist of the idle speed adjuster and a push on the barrel and bingo! Thanks both of you for your help.

Since you took off the carb There are a couple of things that could be wrong. The Throttle cable is already pulling on the Throttle control wheel and needs to be adjusted to allow the Control wheel to close the butterfly. So check if this is what you have which is wrong: Alleyoop Here is an example of the throttle cable not adjusted and is already pulling on the Throttle control wheel. Here is how it should be: thanks for the quick reply, however I believe I have a motorized throttle cable..? If that is any different, because I don't have a control wheel, instead a barrel and needle.

As the title says, my 50cc gilera DNA (no flaming please.. Haha) revs fully when I turn it on. I recently cleaned the carb, and there wasn't a problem before I cleaned it, so this is most definitively the cause. But I'm not sure what's exactly happened. Thought it could be the throttle cable or the ventricle, any suggestions? Thanks.
