I ride in a rural area. I'm doing 30mph to 35mph and traffic is doing 55. ALL roads around here are 55mph speed limit (except in towns). Riding defensively is the only way to stay alive. If I see big rigs in my mirror, I pull off to the shoulder and stop. The wind from tanker trucks can knock my scooter over. Cars will not slow down for me, so I have to be aware of what's behind me and what's coming the other way. If cars can't pass me because of oncoming traffic, I pull onto the shoulder and stop. This way they don't try to squeeze past me and hit me.

I live in the Thumb of MI. My first ride was Mon March 10. It was 3 months since I was able to ride. It's not the cold, too much snow and ice. Dangerous enough this winter driving the Suburban. It has been crazy in MI. this winter. Haven't really seen spring yet. I live in the Thumb Area and there has been so much snow and ice I couldn't ride this winter. I've only been able to ride a few days in the past couple weeks. The temp is going up & down really fast. 1 day its over 40*F, then next day its 20*F. Rain & snow in 2 days time.
That first ride felt so Good! I put about 70 miles on my SunL. It ran really good and I wanted to burn all the old gas out of it before cleaning the fuel system and carb.

If guys on snowmobiles can do it, so can we! I've ridden at -5*F. If you dress correctly to keep the wind out, wear a full face helmet with a scarf or balaclava to keep wind out, it is not bad. I wear sweat pants, jeans, 2 pairs of socks, boots, sweatshirt, hoodie, jacket, snowmobile suit and insulated winter gloves. The only time I don't ride is when roads are snow covered or icy, or the wind is too strong. In the summer I ride when it is very windy, but not in the winter.
