Thanks, Bashan! (What happened to "The Great")? I didn't think of this myself. I was having a difficult time tuning my carb. Running rich and bogging from a stop. I unplugged the auto-enricher to test it and my bog from the rich condition went away. Now to seal the holes like you pointed out. Or can I just leave it unplugged? Which is better?

Great find on that tire changer. Costs about the same as paying a shop to do 2 tires (after that Free).

Thanks to The Great Stinky. That site has the belt I need at the best price. I can get an Aramid fiber belt for less that other places want for a cheapy belt. Thanks again!

That's why they use electric motors on the axles of those engines. The diesel engine drives a generator to make electricity for the axle motors.

Now to find one of those non-smog motors.

Yeah, that puppy has like 6,000hp. The cylinders are big enough for an adult to fit inside and there are 16 of them.

I was at a Powersports shop asking them about scooter tires. They had Michelin 110/90/10 for about $50. They said the Michelin last about 6,000 to 7,000 miles. One of my scooters with 10" tires has Duro. These tires have lasted me just under 6,000 miles and I brake REAL HARD.

I always wear a helmet (no half helmet either). I prefer full faced helmets because of the extra protection. When I rode motocross, I wiped out and my head hit a big rock on my way down. I hit with so much force it cracked my helmet. I had a concussion, but I was alive relatively unhurt. I've seen a few guys eat handlebars and get teeth knocked out with 3/4 helmets. I don't get on a 2 wheeler without a helmet even though MI. allows no helmet. Riding my scooter I always have jeans (no shorts), jacket, gloves and hiking boots. Eye protection is a must! Sometimes I have the face shield up, but I have sunglasses on. I don't like bugs or dirt in my eyes.

I've broken in some Honda and Kawasaki road bikes. When I was a teenager, my Dad, brother and me all bought identical Honda CB750's. All 3 were broken in different. My Dad and me broke ours in kinda normal, just riding it like I normally would gentle throttle on take off, but no hot rodding it. Once in a while I would get on the throttle but not wide open and no high revs. That bike lasted me about 12 years without any engine issues. After break-in period, I would rev this thing high and go speeding around. My brother thought break-in meant go WOT and rev like crazy. His bike had some pretty serious issues after about 1 year. Valves went bad, rings went bad and crank bearing had to be replaced (1 broke). My opinion on break-in, ride it normally (NO HOT RODDING), ease on the throttle (no WOT), gently go up and down in speed and change the oil after 100 miles. Change oil again at 300 miles.

Thanks Alleyoop. I need new tires and I want something good on street and dirt.
I also wear bright green vest or when it's really cold I wear a bright orange snowmobile suit. I have flashing red LED's on the back of my helmet. People just don't pay attention when driving.

Some tips. Air filters are about $5.00. Buy a couple (have one for a spare). Spray WD-40 on the foam filter element and clean it about 1,000 miles (depends on where you drive & how much dust). You can clean the filter by soaking in a small amount of gas, then let THOROUGHLY dry. Reapply the WD-40. Spark plugs cost about $3.50. Again buy a couple. For a 139QMB I use NGK CR7HSA. Gap about .022". Check tire pressure often. Fill to the amount stated on tire. Under-inflated tires are a bad thing and they wear too fast. Change the engine oil and the rear end lube regularly. Rear end lube use 75W90 gear lube. Check valve lash occasionally (not that hard to do). Set valve lash at .002" - .003". Keep your gas fresh and change fuel filter (1,000 to 1,500 miles). If the scooter sits for a while in the winter use either Sta-bil or seafoam in the gas. Alcohol (Ethanol) in gas can gunk things up. Use Seafoam to keep the fuel system clean. Adjust and clean the carb a couple times a year. Set idle. Make sure it is not running lean (lean kills engines, too much heat). Always err to the rich side. Check your CVT belt. Make sure it has no cracks or excessive wear.
With periodic maintenance your engine should last a long time. I have a 139QMB with over 4,000 miles on it (3,000 last year alone). It doesn't use, leak or burn oil. It starts well even in extreme cold( -5*F). It may not be the prettiest scooter in the world, but I know when I push the starter button it will start and I'm riding.

I can't believe you put 2 year old gas in a new engine. Gas with Ethanol (E-10) has a shelf life of 90 days. After that it separates. The Ethanol is crap for your engine and the gas has less that desirable octane. The Ethanol has octane, so they lower the octane rating of the gas they mix it with.

I've been looking for street/trail tires for scooters. They are not full knobbies. I had these on a couple of street/trail bikes and I liked them. No luck in finding any though.

Dan, it sounds like you're riding in an area where you shouldn't really be. Not trying to be critical, just my opinion. Try to stay safe! I have no choice but to ride on these roads. The side roads are dirt AND have a 55mph speed limit. My scooter tires suck in dirt (good on pavement). This is a farming area so trucks are everywhere including secondary and side roads. The box style semi's are not bad, It is the tankers and gravel trains (used by just about every farmer) that really put out turbulence.

I used to work at a car restoration/collision shop. There is a thick clear paint that is textured. We used this on the inside of fenders to keep them from getting rock chips. It's also good for rust protection on the bottom surfaces. The paint comes in a spray can.
