ya i try not to ride with the wet roads. i guess not much chance of getting salt on it if roads are dry. hmm wonder what that spray on rubber stuff would do...

Born and raised in the Rust belt of NEO, back in the day young and dumb I busted out equipment in the salt dust etc and always paid the price. I will not take anything out in the salt dust any more, usually takes till early May. Many intersections had piles of salt dumped. Ive tried everything you could imagine, Like running the Boat in the ocean, with all the stainless it still took a beating. They salted the snit out of the roads here in Randleman last week with the Ice storm. a good gully washer washed it all away. 71 today and I feel the Need!!!!

I used to work at a car restoration/collision shop. There is a thick clear paint that is textured. We used this on the inside of fenders to keep them from getting rock chips. It's also good for rust protection on the bottom surfaces. The paint comes in a spray can.

I'll vouch for cosmoline. The Rust Veto stuff KZ posted is supposed to be similar. I bought a rifle a couple years back, coated in cosmoline. Not only is the stuff super tough to remove, but the 85 year old rifle is in like new condition.
