Actually I'm not really sure what I'm looking at JR.... I'm going to post some pics once I get it apart and let you tell me. Question? Once I pull the head do I have to replace the head gasket? Also there is a lot of build up on the piston head and the valves. Anyway to clean this? ... Most importantly to know I've completely ruined the head. I was checking locally to get it fixed and there is no way it will be cheaper than just replacing it! With that being said I've got to make sure that all parts are installed in the head, As I know nothing about that... Plus I'm thinking are the valves going to be in the same place as mine i.e., one up one down... Does that make sense? I guess what I'm getting at is timing... As if you can't tell I'm kinda lost. I don't even know if what I'm saying makes sense! Feedback wanted! Thanks!

This just keeps getting better and better. Quite an undertaking that's for sure! I need all the help/pictures/docs that you can spare on removing the engine completely from this scooter since I've come to the decision while failing to remove the bolt that broke in the head I'm just going to replace the entire head. Stupid me didn't realize there would be studs coming from the engine not bolts holding the head down. Duh! I should've known better. But it's a learning experience! I'm guessing it's as easy from where I'm at now all I have left is to pull the exhaust off and remove the swing arm. The wheel and once that happens the engine will slide back and I'll be able to remove the head or put the entire engine on the bench for that matter? Thanks and here are some pics on where I'm at currently...

See if you can wrap your head around this one.... I attempted and failed at a bolt extraction. It was my first go at it and I really didn't know what I was doing. I watched a youtube video... Does that count? Now I'm left to deal with a broken tip of a hardened screw extractor in the hole. I've unsuccessfully tried to drill that out and no luck! Now I'm wondering what my next step is. I was thinking I could do all this off of the bike much easier but removing what I think to be the head isn't as easy as I thought. I remember the chain actually runs into there and I don't know much about removing that and putting it back on. So I'm at a cross roads so to speak! I'm not sure what my next move should be but I have an idea to put the intake back on with a good bolt on one side and jb weld the other side. Think that might work? What's an alternate idea? Help! Please!

Agreed with your thoughts alley! Tomorrow I tackle the broken bolt and then onto swapping out the fuel pump. That won't be too much! It will be Wed when I get a chance to test those reworks.... Wish me luck!

Hear you on that one.... While I was just in the garage making sure there wasn't any air leaks I decided to take the intake off and check it just to make sure. Well..... you know how you try one things and it leads to another while this genius was putting it back together I tightened a bolt too tight and boom! It broke in half in the case. Now I've got to go out and get me a set of E-Z out or screw extractors. Never used them before but watched a youtube video just now. I have a new fuel pump coming Tue for good measure. Can't hurt? And once I get everything back together and I know the carb is clean as a whistle! I'll be getting me a new coil if it continues to act like this! Also tell me what you think. The old CDI box on this bike which appears to be original and scratched up will cut the engine out if I wiggle the plug wires that connect to it! It would seem like I have a lot of variables in play here..... Just giving you what is questionable to me? All I can do is one thing at a time. I have to continue to throw parts at it but I just want to get the darn thing running!

I'm going to go back over all of my lines just to make sure there isn't any leaks.... I've tried going all the way into the carb with the A/F screw till it can't turn anymore and it still bogs. Something kept telling me it was fuel realted...? Thanks for the point in the direction of the 'too much air!'

Moving right along. Since I've attached the air filter correctly and I'm starting the scooter and letting it warm up to temp then I'm starting to adjust the A/F screw and I know this. Starting at the factory default of all the way in and 2 1/2 turns out.... The scooter wants to bog down... So I gradually adjust the screw out a 1/4 of a turn and by the time I've reached several turns out the scooter bogs down even worse to the point of dyeing out. What does this mean?

Well DrRocco let me clue you in on what the costs are in Texas. First of all about 4 1/2 yrs ago so I'm told they enacted a law that REQUIRES you to take the MSC and so that makes it mandatory. It costs a whopping $195. That does exempt you from having to take it down at the DPS which makes no sense because that's not an alternate option anyway. So next you go down to the DPS and you still have to take a basic knowledge test on their computer before they will issue a MC endorsement on your license. That costs something like $10. So all in all that really upsets me that I have tack on additional $200 to the cost of a scoot, ins, and TT&L.

OK will do! I hear you on that end of the new scooters to the market. I've kinda been skeptical myself as well.... Funny you should mention the Tao Tao EVO 150. Since that's the one I keep running into..... Thanks!

mxmatt just for grins.... I'm entertaining the notion of getting the 08 Roketa 250 running, selling, and putting that towards a new 150. Any suggestions on one? Which model did you purchase? Where? How has it been for you? This also applies to anyone that may want to add their 2 cents. I'm not looking for anything other than suggestions on reliable 150cc scooters that you may have owned or know someone that has great luck. Please specify website/model.... Thanks!

Thanks Bashan that's encouraging! I haven't thrown in the towel yet. At the very most I would just keep throwing parts at it if I didn't know what to do.... But with everyone here helping... Especially alley! I know I can do this! The air box arrives tomorrow and just by the way it's acting I know a lot of it is the air box... But something has got me thinking that I might have a couple of other issues that are fuel related. Once I get it lined out I intend to upgrade the fuel lines so I can see what's going on and maybe before so. It is very hard to get going in the morning when it's cold and I'm lead to believe either too much air or not enough fuel. It deff takes some time to get it started and then let it warm up before I can start to mess with the A/F mix screw and that also makes me think that the way she's running/starting maybe lack of fuel delivery! I'll update you on my progress tomorrow and what the air box does for me. Thanks again!
