Gee Casual...*snif* you bring a tear to me eye. LOL I'm an old biker also and I ride scoots. frankly, I love scoots. I love the look and shape of a cruiser better, but honestly, I love the way a scoot handles. Totally light and responsive yet you can ride it clear to the ground. I had a passenger scream into the back of my helmet once that we were going to die because I leaned us over so far in a curve. LOL Not to mention, Twist and go makes for a much easier ride when you have nerve damage in the lower back. Don't have to shift gears. If you see a bully, then click on the ignore feature of the forum. I use it myself. There are one or maybe two that need to be ignored. The rest I don't have a problem with. We do get an occasional spirited debate here though... Like does Alley Poke HER or POLKA? Still in the air on that one... So feel free to drop in some mental ramblings on occasion. They are always welcome. Even off topic ones. As long as they are not mean spirited. I am over 60. Started riding at 15, but much larger bikes. I spent some time as a mechanic when much, much younger. I helped a friend fix a GY6. I had to look up some info online and found GY6 engines were pretty fun, and parts are cheap. I went down and bought myself a 150cc GY6 scoot that month. I still ride the larger machines, but my scoot is parked as the "1st ride" in the garage, as it gets more miles than the larger bikes. I will use that mute button if necessary, but I don't think I will have a problem holding my own.

Hey, just had to get that out there. Cyborg asked why people didn't join. I answered. Time to move on to more pleasant topics.
I have to admit that I did check out this forum again today because of a post on another forum. I will take things with however many grains of salt necessary.
Now to the happier Casual Guy. Old riders can be grumpy, and will not hold back, even if they still ride a scooter.

After viewing this forum for several years I think it is obvious that a few people use the forum as a place to amuse themselves after drinking a bit too much. That is fine as long as they stick to the facts, and refrain from being mean. Everyone loves a happy drunk. A mean drunk on the attack is not very fun to experience.
A person can extract almost everything you will need to know about a GY6 from just reading posts from the major contributors. AlleyOop is a great example. Not sure who the guy is, but I read his posts from the beginning. He started out learning, and is now a teacher. Nice guy, great poster. Twowheeler is a bully. 500+ negative posts, tree jumper deluxe, and either under-informed or deliberately giving out bad info. Which of these two guys am I going to ignore?
Don't like me telling the truth? You won't like me then.
Joining for the conversation..... I'll give it a try.

Mayhem is right! I have been watching these scooter sites since 2008. I just joined today.
I figure I have as thick a skin as any of you, and am too damn old to give a damn. I will jump in and comment. If those 1000 watchers did join like I just did, it is possible we could change the culture of this forum.
Too many tree jumpers make for a bad experience. This forum is not known as friendly in other forum posts.
New folks, could make a difference, join, and ignore the bullies and the non mechanical types. Just a thought.

Not likely to garner you friends here... itistheride.boards.net/thread/5640/all-scooter-forums-created-equalFYI molecular structure of synthetic oil is smaller and much more uniform resulting is a more "slick" surface" but its 3:00 am so I must be hammered. If everyone under the sun agrees that dino oil for breakin before synthetic then one can surmise that dino allows engine wear to some extent. (I had 4 cups of coffee before coming to that conclusion) Seriously Im a fan for posting the same topic on differnt forums for DIVERSITY, not to criticize one forum to another. I can assure you that this is a much more technical based forum than the rest of them. If you felt you were right in your observations why did you bother posing the question anyway? Its a 300.00 motor and can be replaced all day long so whats the big deal? The big deal is explaining why you need to replace rings that didnt seat right on a new motor and wonder where all that expensive oil is going. Wow, this twowheeler guy is something else. I looked back over his 500+ posts. Pretty negative guy. One member like this keeps 100 members from joining.

Wow! If you are looking for a reason newbies do not consider this a friendly forum, this is it. TwoWheeler is a bully attacking a person with a valid point. The entire oil discussion was just nuts. Have none of you actually worked as a mechanic? None on this post.
I guess the post about a friendlier co-operation between scooter sites was lip service. Admin. If you want a nice friendly site. Control people like TwoWheeler. Bulling can not be tolerated in our society.
I am too old to give a damn, but watching something like this unfold is uncomfortable and an Admin should jump in, or remove the offending member.

My pulley cover has two holes cast in it for what looks like a tightening tool. I took a piece of 3 inch bar stock, 3 feet long and drilled 3 holes in it at the far end. One large center hole for the bolt. Two smaller holes to match the cast holes in the pulley. Two bolts in the holes, and 2.5' of bar for mechanical advantage. Now I have a "cheater bar" that makes it easy to pull the nut. Only had to do it once actually. I use the "Compress and slip over the pulley" method now to change belts. No need to remove the pulley bolt on my scoot.

Pets are so important to us. You did a great thing providing a home for an older dog. I just lost a cat to cancer, and know how upsetting it is to loose a pet. Think of all the good times, and amusing things. It does make it easier. That last trip to the vet is very hard. Good luck

This post is encouraging. I have been watching the scooter forums since 2008 when I bought a GY6. I found answers to almost all my problems without becoming a member. I was reluctant to join, as the national sport for at least 2 of these forums is getting drunk and bashing newbies. If there is a deliberate attempt to change the culture of this forum, and the other does the same. There may be hope. People that keep score by the number of members may be missing the point. Forums are about sharing information and experiences. Not a place to amuse yourself by bashing other posts.
The interesting part, it is the same persons that are members of both sites that do the sneak attacks. Want to clean up your reputation? Don't allow bulling on your forum. There it is. If you couldn't see it, what can I say?
