Ok I've cut away the stock air box leaving the curved tubed where i have attached an after market filter. I figured taping up and cracked air box was just too prone to fault again. I'm sure its running a little better but still no acceleration. top speed is good but really slow getting there. It's as if the throttle wont go above 3/4. Again the carb is clean and needles/jets look perfect to my eye. notably with the the bike on the stand it revs like anything albeit with a hesitation. apply torque by putting tyres on the road and back to slow sally. If you remove the stock air box you have to re-jet the carb or it will run worse. The engine is designed to operate as it came from the factory and you can not change 1 thing without change other things to compensate.

I have purchased a new impact wrench to remove the variator nut but it doesn't want to budge. Now I know everybody tells me that it's a normal thread but according to my Haynes manual some have a left hand thread depending on how the kickstart mechanism is configured, therefore unscrew clockwise. Basically I daren't try any more incase i do any damage. Any advice? by the way i have a 125cc 152qmi engine on a TGB304 sport. If its a 124qmi its a gy6 motor and a normal right hand thread. If you ever have to pull the flywheel off the other side of the engine the nut is a right hand thread but the puller is left hand thead.

@alley opp Hi, I'm new here and looking for info on TGB problem. I notice you guys are giving good advice for 4 stroke scooters but this is a minarelli 2stroke. There is always oil on top of piston by design, that's why they go through plugs so fast. They also have a little over half the compression as a 4stroke. I wouldn't worry about rings if he can't hold a finger over the plug hole.
