How about getting rid of the nag windows? All that's being done is asking some one to post that doesn't have anything to say.

Ok with just 11 clicks you can read the new mystery message! actually, i cant since im on my phone. oops hope theres not a way to make them for mobile users! anyway they are kinda annoying when im on a regular computer. |

The message system wasn't in any way intended to "nag" it is a friendly reminder to just let all know we like to hear from you. Got nothing to say, no problem, one simple click friendly reminder is gone for 10 more threads you read, not a real hardship IMO.

We initiated this system to try and get some of the incredible number of lurkers to participate. None of it was aimed at the regular guys. Forums can be much more aggressive than this up to not allowing non members on at all. We of course want to be a friendly forum and just wanted to let lurkers know we are watching them and have their credit card info. We're not trying to harass anybody, especially our pals on the forum. Just click the X and it will go away. Jack, quit sobbing...really man....they weren't being mean. See what you guys did now?!

It might be more beneficial to let the lurkers see a list of how many manuals and a few other things we have here that they can see if they join.
A pop up you have to click is damn near as bad and a web site that pops up with "are you sure you want to leave" and then prevents you from closing the window. I think you may be doing more to keep lurkers from joining than anything with that stuff.

The Library is open for guests to wander through. They just can't click on anything. They can see what's in there, they just can't get to it. I think....let me go check....I'll be back.
Well you're right John, they can see the titles of the boards but that's it. Hmmmmm, I'll have to check into that. But still, I just don't see the big deal about signing up....it takes 10 minutes. I think people are so used to being scammed they just assume the worst. Hey Alley, how's that outboard you bought with lurker #199's credit card? I'm enjoying the porno subscription he bought me!
