What happens if I put the variator washer on backwards?

Wow! I'm speechless.....never seen one look like that! I'm amazed it worked at all! Maybe you do need a spacer. You took it apart so I would think you remember taking it off of there. The variator is supposed to be tight when it's installed. If you can grab it and make it wiggle around, there's something wrong with that. Rich

Don't laugh LOL.... Should I just buy a new variator if the place where the rollers have marks in the metal like a big line cut into it? Could it cause it to click? 1drv.ms/1qN80UY Here is a video of the sound.

Yep, new variator time and I won't laugh because.....oh PWAH HA HA HA!!!!!! Kidding dude, there's been worse.......believe me. You mean the washer under the retaining nut? Mine were the same both sides but if there's a rounded side it would go out. The spacer? I don't know on that one. Rich

While inspecting my variator, I came across this. The variator fan looks like it was glued back together after it had exploded! How can I post pics? I do not see the attachment button.

There is no attachment button anymore, Proboards did away with that. Look in the non scooter discussion board, Alley has a post about getting pix up. You have to use an image service now but they're free.

You mean the circle in the middle? That's just a casting mark, nothing to worry about. I don't see anything wrong with it either. Rich

When a variator spins is it supposed to be hot to the touch on the fan and outside cover>?

If you blow up the pic, you will see what I'm referring to. On almost every fin, there are small fishers /fractures. Take a closer look. I would think that in a matter of time this fan wheel will eventually shatter. I took a look at a brand new fan and it most certainly did not look like mine as far as the fractures go. Anyone else have any opinions?
