I recently made my first Chinese scooter purchase. I detail it HERE. All in all, I paid $843 for a 150cc...delivered to my home. I'm just under 700Km on it now, and I'm still super happy with the purchase. I went to killer and I don't see the same deal. Regardless, you have to have a motorcycle license around here for anything larger than 50cc. And I don't want to have to title and insure it. Do they have a good deal on a Dash equivelent? If you turn down their "freebies", which I think is a helmet and gloves, you get a discount. Also, if you pay cash/check/money order...basically anything but plastic, you get a 3% discount. They also offer a military/police discount. I was able to take advantage of all three. That brought their TaoTao 150cc "Cruiser" which is actually a TaoTao ATM-150A EVO, down in price from the listed $929 to $843. As far as having a Dash equivalent, KMS has the same scooters every other Chinese re-seller does so I'm sure you can find it there. Personally, I wouldn't want to go smaller than a 150. My 150 is pretty nimble up until about 45 or so, then it will slowly creep up to max speed from there. It's perfect for around town. I can easily pull away from traffic on a green light so I'm out in front of everyone. That certainly makes me feel safer than when I'm having to monitor all the vehicles around me for careless lane changes. I don't think the same would be true for a 50cc. Sure, the top speed is listed at 35 or something, but if the 50cc performs similarly to my 150, that wouldn't be fun in traffic. Maybe it'll do great up until 20mph and then struggle the rest of the way to top speed. I don't know. I don't own one. Insurance on my scoot is $10/month. Here in IL, it cost like $100 or something to get it titled and registered. I didn't think that was bad. Good luck!

Oh yeah...
Getting my M class DL cost me $25. $20 voluntary donation for taking the MSF Basic Rider Course, which in IL exempts you from having to test at the DMV, and $5 to go to the DMV and have the M class endorsement added to my DL.

Here's my thoughts on this. Read deeper.
Buyer beware of purchasing a new Peace, Peace Sports, Dykon, Tao Tao, or other cheap chinese scooter with fake warranty, poor build quality, and no parts availability.
Check out our great Bintelli brand scooters starting at only $999!
First, there is no doubt that Bintelli scooters are fine products. Justin is constantly seeking to improve his product by interfacing with the factory is China. As the distributor he has a responsibility to provide his dealers with a product that doesn't fall apart out of the crate.
It's wonderful that College Scooters is stepping up their game and selling Bintelli, but remember this. The Chinese build what ever you ask for. If College Scooters or their distributor asked for cheaper builds on a Peace Dash to maximize their profits a drop in quality is inevitable. Don't blame Peace Motorsports (Bashan scooters, BTW) for a bad product if you ordered it that way. As for the Warranty being fake that also is between the dealer and the distributor. Warranty issues are between the dealer and the guy he buys from. If the dealer sells to you with a one or two year warranty you get your scooter fixed. Payments for warranty work are between the dealer and the distributor.
If College Scooters had reserved his condemnations strictly for Peace that would be one thing. Instead he throws blanket condemnation at unrelated brands. Peace, Tao Tao, Dykon are not the same companies. You don't honorably boost your own brands by attacking others. It's called FUD.
Fear, uncertainty and doubt (FUD) is a tactic used in sales, marketing, public relations, politics and propaganda. FUD is generally a strategic attempt to influence perception by disseminating negative and dubious or false information.
And yes, maintenance is the key. Not just in oil changes or valve adjustments but in usage. How you ride will determine how long it lasts. Beat them up and they blow up. It's not so hard to understand.

Well DrRocco let me clue you in on what the costs are in Texas. First of all about 4 1/2 yrs ago so I'm told they enacted a law that REQUIRES you to take the MSC and so that makes it mandatory. It costs a whopping $195. That does exempt you from having to take it down at the DPS which makes no sense because that's not an alternate option anyway. So next you go down to the DPS and you still have to take a basic knowledge test on their computer before they will issue a MC endorsement on your license. That costs something like $10. So all in all that really upsets me that I have tack on additional $200 to the cost of a scoot, ins, and TT&L.
