If a guy was looking to buy a 150cc scooter, what would you buy? Chinese , Japanese ? Based on affordability, reliability, getting parts, upgrading with motor mods.

I almost went with one of these rather than the 300. The RV 200 is actually a 171, close to a 150. Cookees described all SYMs to me as "bulletproff". So far he has been spot on. He said they leave the sales floor and simply do not come back.
Flawless finish...metal and plastic. Two year warranty....a real warranty. Ceramic cylinder, four valves, 72 MPH top speed, and their speedos are accurate. I can tell you right now, they say 81 for the Citycom, it will go past that....yep. They are pricey, but if you want a bike you do not have to think about getting on it and commuting round trip 84 miles to work..and have a blast blowing everybody's doors off..get a SYM. Rich

I agree with you guys the sym is a very nice scooter I would love to own a 200 or 300. I also like the new Honda 300 but it's a little pricey. I am hoping to upgraded some day. But all and all there is a lot of nice scooters out there.

I think everybody wants an Italian at some point so at least you checked that box off. I know I wanted one but never took the plunge. I was thinking of going that route when the SYM deal came up. I'm glad I did it but still a guy would like to try an Italian bike for once in his life.

I have some time before I will be able to make that decision but, this group has helped out with that a lot. Kymco is sold and serviced locally so that will have an influence as well.

The red one X2 That is one nice sym, and it still a real scooter.
The last thing I would buy is a majesty. Or anything with a hump period. The uninformed would think you would have a parts problem with chinese or other than jap scooters but it is quite the opposite. A fellow on another forum lost a battery cover (due to poor design), probably 4-6 oz of plastic cover on a majesty, (90 some odd dollars and at least 2 weeks to come.

A used Honda Reflex. My buddy just sold his to buy his daughter a V Star 250. He regrets it already and he owns a Harley Road Tour Electra Glide Bob as his main ride. He loved to commute to work on it.

KZ is going to give me a load of crap, but I just stumbled into another Vespa earlier today. This one isn't a classic like my other one however, but a 2004 GT200. I wasn't actually looking for one, but it was pretty cheap for a Vespa and I try not to pass up a good buy. We'll see how it plays out.

Let me give you a stinging first hand account of the heralded vespa brand,,,,it's all hype trust me on this,,,, the et4 is my 54th machine and easily in the top 3 of junk,,, i'll get the fueling issues put to bed this week and if i have another person walk up to me and say "sell it to me" it's gone,,,had a few offers and i turned them down like a dumb mother fuker,,,THAT won't happen again either,,,,like i said before if i run into an older p series or to be honest i'd really rather have a stella,4 speed i'll grab it but i'm not pineing for one,,,they have just as many if not more and certainly more expensive repairs,,,it's like harley,,,it's all marketing,,,,It's either a stella or a sym for me next time
