I went ahead and changed my oil again after about 800 miles. The oil looked good, no metal shavings, to be honest it almost looked like it didn't need to be changed, but I did it anyways. I've noticed that my engine does not take the recommended .9 quarts before it is full. I get about .79-.85 quarts in before the dipstick is "full" to the top of the XXXX's, without screwing it in. What gives?! Should I be putting more in?

I think that if you're within .05, you're good.

Are you removing both the screen plug AND the side drain plug when you drain the oil? Do you warm up the bike prior to draining the oil?

When you drain the oil NOT all the oil comes out there is still oil in the passages and depending on any slight angle there may be oil still in the crankcase. If you turn it over after you drain it you will see more oil squirt out. Just don't have it start up Alleyoop
