Here's our precious Cleo....20 years old. She's out of her cage all day and follows us around the house flying from one favorite landing spot to another. She lands on us while we're watching TV and sometimes gets jealous and gives you a little nip to remind you she's there. Yeah, she talks, kinda. She says "I love you" in her own language, and "what", "uh huh", "oh?". The scary part is she says them at appropriate times. For instance...."you want to go on a ride Cleo?" Answer: "uh huh!" Here, she's not asleep, she comes up to me in the corner of her cage, which is her house, and says "I love you":
Here she is waiting to go on a car ride, one of her favorite things. You say "do want want to go on a ride?" and she shrieks and gets in her cage happily waiting to go:
Sue says Cleo can hear the Sym approaching even though Sue can't and Cleo starts wildly flying around the house until I come in. Then she waits in her cage until I come over and then she does the thing in the top pic. I hope she outlives me because I don't know if I could handle her not being in our lives. I feel for everyone of you that has lost your companion(s). It is heart wrenching. Rich

Update for everyone: She was diagnosed with Mange, today. They say it's treatable, and within hours of giving her the first treatment of oral steroids, her scratching has been greatly reduced and she's beginning to open her eyes again. I think that the Mange was MAKING her not open her eyes!
It took 7 months before they finally diagnosed her with it. But thank god that they finally did. She can finally sleep peacefully at night, and her fur will begin to grow back.
Sure we still don't know how much longer we have with her, and while that still may not be long, she will live out the rest of her days happy, and not in misery.
Now on to the other concerning problem...the chance of Mange coming back even after it's treated, especially because of the cancer she has, is very high. So she may get it back. And not to mention that the type of Mange she has can be spread to humans, so there is a high chance that everyone in household now has it and will require treatment for it. Great...

You need to wash everything in the house with bleach. Clothes, Bed linen, furniture... Wipe down hard surfaces... you may not prevent it coming back, but it will make it damn hard to re-occur.

I just cleaned all the hardwood floors and hard counter tops with bleach and a mix of Pine Sol. Next up is to get all the bedding cleaned..and all the clothes. And we're probably going to get all the carpets professionally cleaned.

Mange is caused by mites, so once you kill all the germs that let it spread, It's time to kill anything living in the house that doesn't belong.
You can bomb the house. They have special ones that kill the critters without harming anything else. And they do not leave a residue either. At least one to a room, 2 in big rooms.
Spray the yard too.
After all that, you should be golden.
