I was looking for one like that, but in a bigger size. 48v is going to linit the top end to about 45mph. It's more money, but here's the one I'm looking at. This should get me around 90mph. Don't really want to go any faster than that on 13" wheels.

Just checked out the motor,,if you can figure out the rear wheel and swingarm you can pull it off!!!!!!,,,battery is smaller too so easy to place,,,i think you may have a winner here!!!!

it also would be uber awesome if you can get a large enough solar panel charger to charge it for nothing ,,,or to "top off" the battery if you go on a longer jaunt or to extend the range a bit

There is a paint, Yes PAINT that you can get now. It dries clear and is a solar panel. The entire bike becomes a battery charger with it. Of course it's crazy expensive.

2 of those wheels with a motor in them for front and back and should they free wheel you could use either one or two at a time. Two to get you up to speed and one to maintain speed…

Good idea JCT, but how to regulate when the second one shuts off or turns on?
With the one I've chosen, I'll get plenty of speed and it won't strain the motor either.
The swingarm is the one thing here that has me wondering how I'm going to swing this. (Yes, bad pun intended.) I'm already expecting to get some welding done to make a mount for the swingarm and the arm itself. The motor will mount on the arm also, just in front of the tire. A nice pair of spring boosted shocks mounted to the swingarm and up to the frame should do the trick.

A swing arm is not the easiest thing to build with the chain tighteners and all. Could use belt drive but that is going to cost more than chain if you use a purpose built belt.
You could put 2 throttles on, one on the left! Those wheels sure would make it simple to build.

i would get the measured room and length you need then go for an existing used swingarm from say a cb 200 or 350 honda,,(these are only top of the head examples you should be able to find the exact part you need cheap that already exists) all the chain adjusters and pivot will be all done,,,the only thing you may have to have made is spacers and collars for the wheel axial play ,,i personally would run a wheel from a chinese mini dirtbike or pitbike the sprocket is already setup and no cush drive,,,you won't need it cause there's no power pulses to quell,,chain drive only has 2% power loss and is more narrow than a belt and has many more ratio choices than belt drive

the pivot point is the only thing you would have to worry about actually,,,and bikes are usually wrecked from front end damage so a small section of frame cropped out of the rear of a small bore jap bike pivot pin swingarm probably be way less than $100 i would think,,,i also think it's going to be easier than you think,,,just make sure the guy that does the welding does good work,,,it would be ugly if things came apart

My major problem is the engine is the mount for all the stuff behind it. what Skippy designed that I wonder... Once everything is out, I'm going to have a big section of the frame missing that has to be rebuilt and replaced with some kind of swing arm.

That's what I'm saying,,if you use an existing frame you can cut into it as much as you need for length

WHAT? you are building an electric bike? omg, think 100x man!!, with electric bike, you can only go one way, then you have to stay to charge the battery overnight before you can even go back to your house,(unless you dont mind pushing it on the highways) or knocking on somebody's house in the middle of the night just to plug in your battery charger.,omfg! gas scooter is very convenient i tellya...just don't buy the scooter that has the brand name of "Fashion"

True enough Cyborg. Just need to find what I'm looking for. I really love my bike, I just really hate the engine it has. It has more downtime than miles. I'd be out riding now if it hadn't broken down AGAIN. So, I'm going to keep the part I love and chuck the rest. I'm thinking a crusier frame might be what I'm looking for. Rebuild the mounts with new steel and use the swing from a cruiser? Hmm... I may end up with a larger wheel and tire on the back end. I don't have a problem with that. Might be just what the doctor ordered. The motor has to go on the swing arm or I'll be getting chain break issues. This way, it moves with the wheel and there are no worries about chain stretching or slacking.
