I think the oldest thing ive got is a part of my lantern collection. this is a Brooklyn Flint Glass whale oil lantern that predates the civil war. probably from the 1840's or 1850's.

13th-early 14th century southern chinese buddahs,,,in copper not bronze,,,,thats worth anything,,,got some roman and greek coins ,,,100-300BC,,alot of the furniture in my house is 18th century,,,,1740 ish-1790's,,,OH and some of my ceremonial african asian and american indian masks are 17th-18th century stuff

Probably the oldest thing I own is a doll that belonged to my great-great-aunt Lucy on my mom's side. It's a composition doll which means it is made of compressed sawdust and it dates to the late 1800-early 1900's. It has also never been restored so is in amazing condition for its age.
I have several others that also belonged to my mom, she collected them and I have a very small collection. Another prized doll is named Lov 'ums and she was worth around $800 in 2002, no idea what she's worth now. The little black doll is Henrietta, black compositions are not as valuable as the white dolls, mostly because they were unmarked. Henrietta even has her original outfit, she was worth around $30 in 2002.

I have a bunch of other heirloom stuff. Pecan dining room suite, including hutch that belonged to my grandparents, a lead glass mirror frfom early 1900's that belonged to great-grandparents, my bedroom suite is a 1940's waterfall set that includes an airmoire that I bought cheap.

I prefer antique furniture because it is built to last.

Actually, if I can be serious, well no I can't, but anyway....my wife went to an auction and bought a big arse vase that went pretty cheap at about $250.00. So we get to looking on the net and this thing might be a relic from China like around 1,500 AD. The markings match up exactly. If so it's worth a fortune but the wife is still looking into it. And by fortune I mean 15K, not million. I'll try to post some pics tomorrow, maybe you could give me your opinion Pedro.

THEN, this is exciting, my Dad used to play his violin when I was a kid. He was raised way up in the mountains in Missouri, I'm talking no electricity, no plumbing, mountain people. They hunted for food and raised it in the field. They also entertained themselves with making their own music. He was quite good with a mountain/country slant to his "sawing" as he put it. He had a violin that he played that looks ancient. It has grooves worn in the neck from the strings. He told me it was passed on from many generations and didn't know the exact origins.

My family came from Scotland and were McCarmans but dropped the Mc due to discrimination. Our history is murky. This violin has an imprint that you can see up inside that says "Amati". Now, if you know anything about musical instruments you just went "HUH!" Amati violins are priceless, but there are a lot of fakes. My daughter is taking it to that show on PBS in a couple weeks where they evaluate old things and tell you if it's genuine or not. If this puppy is a genuine Amati your old buddy Rich, aka Bashan, aka Stinky, aka TUTU, is packing up and going around the country in one big arse RV. Or, if the wife doesn't want to go, a bike. One way or the other, I'm going to find Cyborg and poop on his porch. Then my life will be complete. Rich
