Isn't it amazing that we have to get our REAL news from the Daily Mail in the U.K.

Naw, just thought that was interesting cause she competed in the men's class & won. Things like this is why people in other countries think Southerners are crazy, lol. I'll catch a lot of stuff - snakes & snappers for example but I ain't sticking my hand in no hole under water for a fish to bite me. Even spiders don't bother me but I gotta watch out with them cause I'm allergic, even to common non-venomous types.

One doesn't have to be from another country to think ya'll are crazy weird. I've tickled a few fish but we don't have any I'd stick my hand into it's mouth. Them Northern Pike have huge nasty teeth.

Everybody thinks Americans are crazy...and they're right, I got to admit. I treat all kinds of ethnic people in my practice and I talk to them about all kinds of things. Sometimes I have to start up a conversation about one thing and circle back to their problem to get a decent history. The Hispanics, hard working legals that I deal with, cannot believe we drive huge trucks with one person, often female, at the wheel. They are a bit sexist I got to admit. But they comment on how we complain about gas and such but continue to do things that waste resources. And they have said just that, we are wasteful....gotta give them that one. There's a lot of German immigrants around my practice, there's even a Germany mountain! Many speak broken English because they haven't been here that long. They can't believe how competitive we are. Racing on the E-way, who's got the biggest, fastest vehicle, the most money. Of course, this from a country that tried to take over the world....TWICE! But seriously, we do kind of freak them out. Let's see who else....oh Indians and I don't mean American tribal type. Nice, hard working folks, very family oriented. The patriarch of this particular family I treat was avoiding my questions about what he thought of Americans. One day he finally cracked and told me "your people are rude!". I said "go on." He said they come in his sandwich shop and crowd in front in the line and yell over each other and talk on the phone while ordering and... I said, "you don't have to convince me, I've seen it." I've read a lot about the American psyche. We settled this country through determination and grit. We went through WWI and WWII and lost a lot of people and spent a lot of resources. We developed attitudes and ways of coping that shape who we are today. Probably we carry some of that to extremes but that's America. Certainly the British and others have been through the wringer too and it has shaped them as well. But America is America, ya gotta love it, and we retain the right to bitch as much as we want. Rich

I once tickled a trout to catch it barehanded, beautiful rainbow trout too, good eating onthe grill with just a touch of butter & lemon juice.
It was a bet, guy bet I couldn't catch one barehanded (he was drunk). He put up $100 but when I caught the fish, he paid up.

Nope but I do like country music. Alabama, Rascal Flatts, Alan Jackson, etc. HeeHaw was more bluegrass. Hey I warned ya I was a country girl. Growing up we had a huge garden and my grandpa raised rabbits. We'd butcher them every fall. Lots of people round her raise chickens for Tyson & after the catchers come through, there's always chickens left. We'd go out and catch them, bring them back to grandpa's and then wring their necks. Us grandkids used to compete to see who could send the body flying the farthest. You just swing that ole chicken around over your head and crack the whip. But for some reason, our parents didn't trust us to chop the heads off. We'd go out by the roadsides and into cow pastures picking blackberries and whatever other fruits we could find and my grandpa make jam & jelly & wine. True story, he made a bunch of blackberry wine back in 1980 & a box got lost in his basement. It was found after he died in 1993. My uncle wouldn't let nobody taste it, instead he used it to strip the paint off a lawnmower.
