While I was fixng my wifes car today, a guy comes up and says that he has a Honda Nighthawk 750 he'll sell to me for $200. It needs tires, brakes, head gasket and some body panels. Amazing how these things fall into my lap all the time. The fixer uppers always seem to come to me. and I'm SO not a mechanic. LOL
So, whatcha tink? Jump on it or what? Have not seen it yet.
99 Nighthawk 23k miles

OMG! $200! Grab it and run laughing. Even if you have to pay someone to do the head gasket it will still be worth it. BUY IT!!!

With the work I just did on my wifes car today, I think I could probably do the head gasket myself. Just gotta find a place for parts.
EDIT: Just found the service Manual for it online. How cool is that?

As far as parts go,,, eBay is your friend ,, and in California,, Johnson and wood is the place to go for used Japanese parts (panels and body parts as well as hard parts ),, they have never let me down on dozens of builds,,,

Oh and 750cc is a real nice size mill ,,,super fast when you want,,plenty of power for two up,,,lighter than most liter bikes and decent mileage when your just putting along,,,and as a added bonus the insurance is less expensive than a big bore,,,if the thing isn't too beat up it should make a nice island bomber

I have no idea why you are even talking about it, I would be carting it home right now instead of telling every one else. A head gasket will be around 65 and brakes depending on what needs replacing. tires maybe 300 for the pair.

That seems to be a very fair deal put like 400 500 dollars in the bike you should be good for many years. A lot difrent from a scooter but not a race bike but plenty of power and besides Honda is a great company. Go for it guitarman.

Bikebandit.com, motorcyclesuperstore.com, cheapcycleparts.com all carry OEM parts for Honda if you can't find an aftermarket gasket. This is really a No-Brainer. Buy it already.

The bike's not going anywhere. I already talked to the guy. I plan on picking it up next week when I get paid. Still haven't seen it, but the guy said it's pretty ugly.

Looks like if it is ugly you wont need to spend on side panels. And then there is flat black, That is meant for a bike like that, don't know why some one would put flat black over a really nice paint job but they do.
A cb750 night hawk is one of those almost bullet proof bikes with the best style motor ever designed for a bike, 4 cyl vertical. Double overhead cam 16 valves. It will take some time with all those valves to do a head gasket but with a service manual you just follow instructions. I would be careful though and see that the motor is not locked up.

It runs now. Just need to replace the head gasket because it leaks when the bike gets hot.

If the head gasket leaks when hot you may just need to re- torque the head. A blown head gasket doesn't care about hot or cold, it leaks all the time.
