So I had to ride up the mountain today to evaluate a gas station for Marathon to make sure it followed their guidelines and standards. Looking at the map to find the station, I realized it was a little past the parkway so I decided to detour before heading home. Didn't go far, just to the first overlook. The elevation of my community (according to wiki) is 1437' and I crossed the Eastern Continental Divide at 3100'. The overlook itself is at 3165' but I walked out 1/2 mile to the actual Jumpin' Off Rock. The mountains-to-sea trail runs along with this path and you climb easily another 30' in the 1/2 mile walk.











And you know the road is bad when you're riding a 50 cc scooter and you gotta brake repeatedly cause of a big truck ahead. Driver rode his brakes too much downhill, could smell them before we got halfway down. 6 miles of this:

Thanks, it was a nice ride. Before I go again though I will have that 1000rpm contra in her and a BBK. Couple times I thought I could about push her up the mountain faster, lol. But she never gave me any trouble other than slow.

I'm fixing to install some sliders on the wife's 150 to hopefully help her bike up "the mountain". You know how it is in the south, the local mountain is always "the mountain" even though there's another one 10 miles away. But you get directions "head over the mountain and cut south." The other day I was telling a guy how to get to Inverness and I said "head up the mountain and cut right at the lake". I realized what I just said and thought "OMG, I've been assimilated!". Creepy. I'll let you know how it goes with the sliders. Rich

One gram, I had John send me 11's and 12's. So the old ones are 12.7, I'm going to use three 11's and three 12's which brings me in at 11.5 or one under. It's raining so no test ride.

Also enjoyed the pics. I was up there in May on my Honda 2012 NC700X. It is a great area to ride!
