just caught the tail end of a news report on tv about the space station coming over tonight at 10:38 in nw sky. soon as the news was over I went out and caught it. looked kind of a firey orange glow to it and was it ever going. must have crossed the part of sky I could see in 20-30 seconds. kind of looked like a blob of metal dripping off a welder. very hazy tonight could hardly see a start but that was bright. saw it a few years ago in the south sky, both times moving west to east more or less. john

Those kinds of things are always very surreal to me when I see them. It's hard to imagine that another human being is in that thing. We've come a long way from when I was a kid, I remember watching Walter Cronkite crying like a baby when we landed on the moon, now we have people living up there......kinda. Rich

shows it to be at 15 degrees up at north so unless I go about a mile south on my road I doubt it i will see it tonight. edit: missed it real low heavy clouds, no stars out, and trees mostly higher than 15degrees, a few open spots.

I've always wanted to see it with the Space Shuttle trailing it, but never did. Looks like I've got a good shot to see it tonight. I've seen that once. Two little lights in the sky chasing after each other. Beautiful. However, I'm much more awed by watching them go up! I live and work about 60-70 miles from Cape Canaveral and its amazing to watch each and every time a shuttle goes up! Night launches are the best. Its a shame that there are only a few missions left.

I'm totally jealous about that! I never got a chance to see that either. I always tried to tune into the NASA channel for the launches and landings, and loved it. Hmmm, hopefully they will have another vehicle soon.

Hmmm, hopefully they will have another vehicle soon. My dad (who lives in Michigan) always tunes into the NASA channel for launches. Usually he calls me on the phone to make sure I'm watching for it outside. Sadly, in all the times my parents have visited me, they've never gotten to see one go up. They've come close a few times, but never got the timing right. In the 10+ years I've live here, I've never been closer than about 25-30 miles for a launch. I'll have to get closer for one of the last two missions. The landings are fun. I've never "seen" a landing... but I've heard the tell-tale twin sonic boom enough times. Scared the crap out of me a few times, too!
