Thanks Lukester, I appreciate it. Hey, you guys could give Luke a little support for being kinda normal for once. It's a very interesting post so far, get with it! Rich

I always knew Luke was a chain puller. And I approve his post. This kinda proves Luke really does more than trailer the tub, and has the mechanical know how to rebuild a scoot.
Good on ya Luke-ster.

You ever did this type of thing before Lukester? I'm just thinking changing the frame length might drastically change the operating dynamics of the bike. It could destabilize it big time and throw it into a high speed wobble. I'm just saying be careful bud. Rich

i personally would have that weld looked at by a pro,,,it should have been sleaved and double welded,,,that is a high stress area and the loads are all concentrated in that one area,,,weld saturation is critical and i would be very wary of this,,,i know we dont see eye to eye on many things Luke but i don't want to see you get hurt or worse,,,

thanks guys... yeah i did this in the past , but i was using a higher amps welder then, now i am using only 90amps. i may need to bring i to machine shop to re-wel it permanently just to make sure. i put a sleeve inside the tube, welded on both opennings then fused them together, i see to it that there is at least quarter of an inch gap to get more surface welded together. plus i weld a steele brace on top for added support. . thanks.. will post more pics

WHEW,,,i feel better Luke,,,this fix you propose will be secure,,,adding the tube above takes 70-80% of the load off the joint,,,good thinking

Are we being had here? Is this more close up photography Lukester? Did you lapse on ambien for a week and not take any pix from the previous post? Do you have a flash on your camera? Are you experimenting with the sepia settings on your camera? These questions and less will be not answered in our next episode of:
Pharmaceutical Luke

What's with the valve cover? Let us see the work,,, oh and I meant to say make sure you put a vent hole in that cap from the Harley oil tank turned fuel tank Luke ol boy or you'll get a vacuum situation and you'll run out of fuel at the carb even with a full tank,,, those bikes are dry sump so that tank is sealed when you snug down the cap
