hi im looking to upgrade my variator, rollers, and clutch on a 2005 majesty 400. sometimes the parts dealers don't specify a year so does it matter? if its 2004 or 2014 model?
overall ive been having a hard time pinning down exactly what I need.
which is a dr pulley hit clutch or comparable, a malossi or jcosta variator, and if I go with malossi variator I should get the dr pulley slider weights? and then just a standard new belt?
im hoping this will smooth and speed my pull away from the line. and eliminate the chatter. this thing has great top end.. but the lower end is just god-awful. my gutless vino125 could smoke it and that so annoying lol.
im open to any suggestions of course

The Shatter is the pads are glazed and slip grabbing the bell until enough centrifgual force is applied with more rpms. So take the bell off and sand the glaze off the pads, very common on the 250s due to the weight of the scoot. Alleyoop

As far as I know yamaha has changed nothing from your 2005 to current. No matter how bad a problem they have found they keep the damn thing the same. Best to get after market parts if possible. I bought my 07 in jan 2010. I think I have more complaints about mine than all the rest of scooters and motorcycles I have ever owned since I started riding in 1958.
The std weights are 15gram. Put 13 in and it will work a lot better. It has a belt replace indicator light on dash, lights up at about every 12,000 and then has to be reset. Belts normally can go almost twice that. Untill it was wrecked my chinese 150 would easily beat it off the line. I used to sand the clutch shoes and drum to get rid of the chatter. Got pissed one day and reveved it with the parking brake locked and that did the same. Most all of the after market clutchs are worlds better than OEM. Taking off hard seems to prolong the chatter from coming back. Make sure the parking brake is adjusted just enough to keep from rolling off the kick stand. These things have a back brake wear problem and you do not want the parking brake helping it along, they are a bitch to work on.
