Hello all. Last winter I drove my scooter to work early in the morning, it was cold as hell out. After 9 or 10 hours it was even colder weather, and the scooter would not start for anything. Since then I took an unfortunate vacation, courtesy of the state, and I still can't get it to start. I checked the spark plug and it was fouled, so I cleaned it. When I tested it I got a pretty good jolt ripping through my hand, but it still didn't start. I checked my valves and the cold had closed them up tight. I set the top to .003 and the bottom to .004 (I made sure it was all lined up).It still won't start and I'm worried that I will kill the battery if I keep trying. I can see fuel in the filter. I thought perhaps it might be a fuel delivery problem, but I'm not really sure Any suggestions? I know I am forgetting something I once knew to do, so reminders are needed.... (I'm on house arrest so if I get permission to go to the store, I can only do it once. Please list anything possible you think I may need to pick up).
Thanks.

I have the AA Big Book (and a 9 month chip) I'll run to the store for the other stuff as soon as I can. What does the Seafoam stuff do and will Auto Zone carry it? Thanks for the direction.

So Advanced Auto carries it. The guy just told me not to soak my carbeurator in carb cleaner because it will swell the rubber rings. I have never heard that before (to not soak it). I also went to Seafoams website and there is a testimonial where some guy says he soaked his carb IN SEAFOAM. Ive cleaned and rebuilt carbs before, but now I don't know what to think. How should I use the seafoam (just add it to the gas?)and should I not soak the carb? I can't see all those little ports getting clean without soaking it for at least a few hours.

ALso just add 1 OZ OF SEAFOAM per gallon, the best way is first pour the 1 oz into the tank then fill the tank it will then mix. What you can do is also turn up the OVERFLOW hose that is near the top of the carb the one curved pointing down and pour some seafoam down into the carb bowl. Alleyoop

Seafoam is not carb cleaner but it cleans carb passages and other fuel related components. Carb and choke cleaner, the real vile smelling spray stuff, WILL damage plastic parts. You can soak any metal part in carb and choke cleaner but do not soak plastic parts in it or leave them exposed to it. I wouldn't think Seafoam would hurt plastic but I wouldn't soak plastic in it for a long time just to be safe. So Seafoam is NOT carb cleaning fluid. Carb cleaning fluid is the stuff in the spray can. Seafoam safe, carb cleaner NOT safe. We good? Rich
