20 degrees 9 am gogni to work. one morning, i decided to wear a half helmet. my ears burned until i went to sleep. i was worried, i woke up the next morning and they defrosted, i was ok.
i found a big leather jacket, and long johns, keep you warm, and a full faced helmet, and a full rain set coat gear, jacket and pants will knock all the wind off you. and nice leather gloves.

Used to shovel snow for $$ as a lad and I had the best cold weather gear. Layers, but I always made sure I had rain gear on underneath. Take a plastic trash bag and put your feet in it and then stick them in your boots. Locks in heat and air so it doesn't conduct. Awesome while you're in the cold, but you're going to be extra well done if you don't shed them inside.

Anybody remember when Joe Namath was in commercials wearing panty hose? It turned out a lot of foot ball players did. I wear nylon ankle socks in the winter for the same reason. But unlike trash bags they don't have to be removed when your in the warmth.

I rode 365 days in a row some 50 years ago in Iowa. I am sure there were a few days it was well below zero, That's the norm for Iowa in the winter. Short trip less than 3 miles but I still froze. A Honda 50 that never failed to start. Traded it for a Bridgestone. I had a Bridgestone 50 in HS, in South Dakota in thd early 60s. Rode it year round for my paper route. most recently it was 17 on a Dec morning for a Toys forTots run..
