I thought we could start a log here about any cold weather rides you do. Just put whatever you want down but include the temperature when you left your house. You might also include what the ride was like and what you wore to keep warm. Feel free to comment on each log entry with a reply. Rich

Left the house for work this morning at 7:00AM, it was 25 degrees by the indoor/outdoor weather station I have. I used mainly ski clothes including a ski mask and pants. I also use a snowmobile helmet. The SYM 300i has great wind protection so that helped. It's 42 miles to work and my hands were getting cold by the time I arrived at 7:50. The next step is to start using my heated clothing that runs off of the battery. I'll get into that more as I bring pieces into use, I'll start with the gloves next time. I leave work at 5PM and it's supposed to be 35 which shouldn't be too bad.

No I think I have everyone beat, if it is NOT SUNNY, LOW WINDS AND AT LEAST 70+ the trike stays in the garage(HEHE). I want to enjoy the ride not freeze and or get blown all over the place. And getting ready for winter, Leaving for Florida right after Thanksgiving to keep the bones nice and warm . Alleyoop

Wussies. It was 35 when I left the clinic to come home, it wasn't bad at all. It's amazing what a 10 degree differential will do. Here's the deal, I save over $10.00 in gas everytime I ride the bike as opposed to the truck. It adds up quick. I like cold weather riding plus it saves me a boatload of money. Wussies.

I don't mind 50 or 55 degree's if it is a short trip. I do like how alley puts it...if you can't enjoy the ride why do it? I must have been born nuts......riding all winter in iowa. I am way smarter today.

Don't need it right now, but I have a nice cold weather riding suit with helmet skirt. If I ever need it, I'll be toasty.

The helmet skirt is an absolute MUST. You put your helmet on and then put your jacket on over the skirt. It keeps that wrap around draft from getting on your neck and keeps cold air from working it's way down the front of the jacket. Personally, I like cold weather riding. I agree, I don't want to be uncomfortable so I take steps to avoid that. There's something about the crisp clear air that I find enjoyable. Also, I enjoy defeating the elements, it's a challange. But I do not ride in the rain anymore but I do want to ride while it's snowing, that's the last item on my riding bucket list. I don't mean a blizzard, just some flurries that aren't sticking. That happens maybe three times a winter down here and we maybe get a sure enough snow twice. Next week it's supposed to be 21 in the morning....I can't wait! Rich

Suddenly, I have this existential desire to be a saddle.
We had an awesome cold front come through this morning. It poured all night but the rain had just moved east by the time I started to get ready for work. Sue was kinda miffed I rode but she just doesn't understand the need to ride. The roads were wet but it was a balmy 50 degrees out. The wind was rough and the roads were wet but it was a fun ride. When I left for home it was 37, clear and cold, I used the handlebar mittens for the first time, they work great. Here they are attached to the Fashion:
