The weather station at the house read 19 when I left at 7AM for work. I used the electrically heated gloves and the voltmeter didn't come down at all, a rock steady 13.7 as usual. I wore an extra athletic shirt and thick socks. I wear a ski mask under the helmet and I was pretty toasty until about 10 miles from the clinic at mile 32. I wasn't cold when I got to work but the heat was welcome.
It won't be this cold for a while so I'll be preparing all my heated clothing for the next cold snap. I'm going to follow Jack's advice and not only switch to LED lighting but add another battery in parallel. I have heated pants or chaps, gloves, jacket, and socks. They all plug together and you can use just the jacket controller for all of them. Or, you can use separate controllers for each piece. The controllers hook right to the battery so it doesn't cause any interference with the electronics on the bike which are formidable. The suit is Tourmaster Synergy.

Rich , a one piece snowmobile suite does really well . I got one off Amazon a while back . If you keep the Draft down you will be surprised . The type suite try it . Remember the pants in your order . Put it on then dress for the day . Latex gloves under your gloves works nice too .

Thanks John, I'll check into that. I'm using a snowmobile helmet already so it would just complete the ensemble. We cold weather riders are very fashion conscious.

I prefer my separate bibs and jacket. They fit my figure better.

I won't ride if there's actually ice out, but above that I will. I have base layer top and bottom (sometimes a thermal shirt) then shirt. I put on my overalls that go over my chest somewhat, then vest, then jacket. I have 2 jackets, a thin light one, and a heavier leather one. I wear 2 layers of gloves, but my fingers always get cold. A good windscreen for the fingers would help that, I may just get some of those 'overmitt' things.
I wore all that and the heavy jacket with 40F a few days ago.

Had to ride to the next town over yesterday about 35 miles round trip. temp was 67 I know, I know, not the freezing cold some of you mentioned but I did get rained on, on the way back.I did have my wet weather gear with me so didn't get that wet ,but the looks I got from the other drivers had to make me laugh at myself here I'am on my scooter in the pouring down rain dressed in camouflage rain gear from head to toe with my helmet on ,tucked down trying to get home as fast as I could. I thought to myself what the f#%* are doing out in this weather when you could be at home warm and dry, then I remembered.... I was out of beer and it's Fri.nite.later. Oh yeah, now that's a good reason to hit the bricks on a bike in any weather. I think riders put too many restrictions on themselves for riding. "Oh it looks like rain, it's too cold, I'm transporting this kidney". Well the cold would actually help with the kidney and suck it up people, are we going to ride or what?! I switched to silk long johns because Cyborg wanted some pictures. But as a side benefit they are much warmer than regular thermals and you can easily put other underwear over them, any kind of underwear. Seriously, they are much warmer and you just giggle all day for some reason. Ride on! Rich

I switched to silks years ago,,, and now laughing boy has joined the fold,,, you guys really have to check them out,,, silk longjohns are where it's at,,, and if you wait till spring you can get them on killer sales and it won't cost you a fortune,, and as a added bonus as Rich pointed out getting the outerwear over the silks is easy and you don't need to wear as much because they are super warm

Amimals don't see you until you move. Hence some of the blaze orange camo, its for people, so they can have camo and still obey the law while deer hunting..
