The only way to ensure a 4 or under kick engine start ( with choke when cold) is to turn the fuel tap off once I shut the engine down. If I don't the engine gets flooded and a small puddle of fuel/oil is usually under the engine. That is the reason all scooter/motor cycle engines that have gravity fuel feed have a shut off valve. even my farm tractor has one. They need to be off when engine is off. If the float valve sticks you can have a fire, a crank case full of fuel, and a host of other problems.

I am more than aware of dealing with the carb. Last year I replaced the entire float mechanism after rebuilding the si 24/24. I also do use the fuel cutoff valve ( when I remember to do so). willc.
