Hi, new to the forums and my first scooter Bought it used and rode fine during test drive. Now I think something is loose or broken in the air/fuel area It starts and runs fine then after a 30-50 seconds it seems to die out or when you try to give it throttle I smelled gas and traced it to this (I have no idea what it is ) I am pretty sure something is supposed to be connected to those 2 nipples at the bottom. I am completely new to this so thanks for your patience

No, nothing attaches to those nipples. That's your vapor canister and it is probably your problem. Here is how it works:
Here is how you remove it:
Make sure you tie the vent hose off of the tank high so it doesn't slop gas or get a fluid block in it. That's probably your problem, the canister system is blocked somewhere and the resulting vacuum is shutting down your bike. The vapor recovery system is junk, get rid of it.

Some one didn't top off the gas tank all the way to the very top did they? If you look at the boss's diagram, if you fill to the lid you are running gas right into the canister! Not good to do that. Gas was probably a little low when you took test ride, then it got really full!

What do you use as a filter in the #1? Can you use red rtv to plug the air box?

You can use an old gas filter. I just use black stoppers that you get in the nut and bolt aisle at Lowes. You could use a little RTV to seal it up.

If you have time could you post a link to the black stoppers?
