I have the same on my truck. It's an international symbol for water temperature. An oil can is for oil pressure. Lightening bolt for voltage. Etc..

That's not my gauge, but that's the same symbol as Richard said. It's always lit up, is that normal?

Thanks. The manuals I found don't say that it even exists, never mind if it's doing anything.

They may be illuminated by the normal dash lights. It's not an "idiot light". There just symbols in place of words. Supposedly understood around the world in all languages.

It was on all the time on the way home last night. I think it's just illuminated, doesn't mean anything.
Gonna see if I can put a load of water in tonight, then put the fluid back in on Saturday.

Might be a good idea to try to get a owners manual or a down load of one. That would take all the guess work out of it.

Temps seem low, if anything. Taking a long ride on Saturday up to Denton. I should know for sure then.
Got 2 manuals, but neither one says that this symbol being lit means anything.

The symbol off to the right on the gauge is the universal symbol for water temp. The red one is the symbol for hot water. The only thing that matters is where the indicator points.

Flushed again last night, then refilled with 50/50 fluid. The fan FINALLY came on. It works, but I think that the temp gauge on near overheating should have turned it on.
Well, I drained it, put some plain water in and ran it for a bit. It rose to about 2/3 then lowered. A couple times it didn't quite hit the red for overheating (the first time is when the fan came on) and if I revved a little it would lower again. It never 'burped' so I shut it off. At some point after that it finally took fluid from the overflow.
I'm going to run it a bit tomorrow morning and put more fluid in, if it needs it, then take a long ride. We'll see how it goes.

Took a long ride (50 miles round trip) to Denton on the scoot. It stayed cool almost the whole way up, started to rise after I got off the highway. On the way back, I was stuck in stop and go and the temp started rising then, too. I also heard the fan come on at one point.
It seems that the scoot isn't too happy at stop and go traffic, distance and speed are OK. The temp never got above 2/3rds either.
I'll keep an eye, but I think it's going to be fine.
