Hi, I was wondering if someone may give some insight to what the problem may be with my CVT.
I had the original belt break at 800 km had it replaced and it broke again after another 600 km. A mechanic said it was because of the clutch rear pulley not disengaging flat or parallel. He picked the clutch up and held down the "front half rear pulley" with his hand. I could see the outer part of the rear pulley not parallel with the other half. Would this be the cause of the belts breaking? If so, do I need to replace the entire clutch assembly or just a piece of it? Also should the two halves of the pulley be exactly parallel when engaging or a little wiggling is okay? Thanks everyone for your input and time!

They should in theory be parallel,,, a little scew would be ok but would promote quick wear,,, if it's a big difference I can see it snapping belts especially the less expensive brands

Could it be binding , from pieces from the past broken belt . When I get a scooter in with a shredded belt I do a complete tare down , variator and clutch assemblies. Fresh grease in the pivot points and bearings and shafts . Sand down any glazing .

I would pull the variator and make sure the weights are still round and square in the ramps. Pull the bell on the clutch and make sure the pad arms are intact. You can buy an entire clutch assembly and it just slips on, same with the variator. If you don't see anything obvious just replace both and save yourself the mechanics labor and parts mark up.

Thanks to everyone for your input. I'm going to change the entire clutch assembly and hope it all works out.

are the belts too tight, do they slip over the drive boss without any problem or are they tighter than glove tight? might be a chinese lemon bike problem. if your buying and i dont hyink you probably are the wrong belt... maybe
