That's a valid concern Pete. The gas and oil mix is another. And Alley is right we don't want to trash the motor just yet. There's things to sort out here.

If the motor sounds good and it runs good It may be the Variator hanging open and not closing that would give you MOTOR REVS but no mph. In the 7K miles it has have you every changed the weights and plastic guides in the Variator. So if the motor sounds good and it revs then THE next thing to do is TAKE the Variator off and inspect the weights and guides and it may be all that is wrong with it. Alleyoop You guys are good..LOL

You called that quite awhile ago Alley ,,, what threw me was ( if memory serves) the engine was not revving but slowed when the bike was slowing,,, if the engine is revving freely and it's slow you again called variator/ oily belt/ bad clutch / blown final drive,,, not much else left really

Alleyoop I'll try to get a video in the day. I got the scooter at around 7k miles.. its now about 7,150. So I don't know much about it. It sounds really bad though. My dad says its done with.

HAHAHA, so you bought it used with 7k miles on it and you only have put about 150 miles or so on it. Well here is the thing if it starts up nice and easy and idles nice and on the center stand it revs up good then I would suspect the problem is in the CVT and not the motor. But I can tell by the sound of the motor if it is weak when you twist the throttle and I also need to see how the rear wheel is spinning when given throttle. It would be very easy to find out if ONLY for someone to hold the bendix in place and starting it and watching how the cvt is working with the COVER off. Now some have wired the BENDIX in place to hold it so no hands or used I will try to find the picture of that shot so maybe you guys can do that and have it for use later on. Alleyoop FOUND IT: See the WIRE WRAPPED AROUND THE END OF THE BENDIX SHAFT do that and then start the VIDEO and we can watch the CVT working or not working right and we will be able to tell right away what part is bad. Now you can wrap the wire around it and actually then just hold it back with your hand above the cvt and away from any moving part. Or you can do it like in the picture he used the bolt and hold to the right of it that holds the cvt cover on to hold the wire on.

The motor sounds extremely bad so I believe that to be the problem.

Have you ever swapped one? It's a piece of cake. I did it in two hours once including lunch. The engine is not that heavy but a floor jack helps. If you need help we are here.

Cool, hearing the motor will help determine if the motor needs a rebuild. If it's the crank then just slap in the other motor.
