Afternoon Boys, Anybody else do leather work? I just made me another holster for my Bersa. Seems like every one I make get's a lil better than the last. Always working out the bugs. 1. 2. 3. 4.

I haven't since my youth. Dad had a hobby of repairing shoes and I helped. That is a nice looking rig. I would like something like that for my Bersa Thunder 380. The Ruger LCP just slips into the pocket.

Well heck! That didn't take long to find out it's all at the wrong angels as you can see in the CLICKY. I took it all apart and am waiting for the glue to dry so I can re-sew it at the right angles. It just wasn't SMOOTH enough coming out of the holster. Sure glad this is just a test holster. CLICKY

I was thinking it should be muzzle up about 20 degrees or so... It looked way to level in the first set of pix. Nice job though.
If I make it back to the mainland, I'll re-start my collection of lead slingers.

Mornin Guitarman, I understand that diff people have diff ways of doing things. As for me and having the muzzle up, that wouldn't work for me. I like having my jacket closed about 1/4 way up. That gives me a clear area to draw from. To have the muzzle up, I would need to have my jacket open at the bottom or it would get in the way as I would have to draw it down, out of the holster instead of chest high and straight out. Having my jacket closed at the bottom keeps my weapon concealed no matter what I'm picking up or reaching for. Plus sitting in my pickup, it would come out easier too. It's all down to diff strokes for diff people, and there's nothing wrong with that. I moved the muzzle down a little more and it feels better for my style. I'll use this one till spring and maybe I'll get ahead of all the other projects where I can buy me some more leather. I had one piece of leather left that I could just cut the holster part from. It was wide enough, but was short in length so I had to add the straps to hold the weapon from falling out. I had to take the mag holder, shoulder straps, buckles and belt clips off of an older holster which came from an older holster. But I figure by spring I will know what other "adjustments" I may want to make to it. Then I'll buy some more leather and parts and build one for keeps.

I've found I like it more nose down as well and I like the way yours has clasps to the belt. Mine is fabric, elastic and Velcro. It's very adjustable and the wide band around the belly holds it in nice and secure but the band is very noticeable. Also most of that type only come for full size guns and with my smaller hands the Bursa Thunders smaller size fits my hand better. Better control that way but hard to find a holster to fit it.

Mornin richardv, Do you have a picture of setup? I'm always looking for new ideas and styles to ad to mine. One thing nice about forums is we can share ideas. That helps me from making mistakes, sort of. If there's a wrong way of doing something, just give me time, I'll find it.

Finding the wrong way is the easiest. I'll have to get it out of storage later. If I can find it.

Here it is. As said it's not much but finding any holster for a mid-sized Bursa Thunder is difficult. This will take a full size 45 and it is sized with large safety pins. It's all heavy nylon canvas, elastic and Velcro. And as you can see the belly band does make it hard to conceal but, it is comfortable. I would like the pistol angled more for better cross draw.

If the holster is a separate solid piece, can't the thread be un-done and sewn back on at the angel you want? It does look comfortable. If you kept the bottom of your shirt or jacket closed, I bet you couldn't see the waist ban. On mine, I had the strap that hooked on to left shoulder strap then came over my right shoulder too low, and the top of the left shoulder strap kept falling down. I had to raise it about 2". Now it's fine and stays up. (Now I know what the women mean when they complain about their bra straps falling down all the time)

Now if you was a woman with a huge set you could just stuff it in between them!
