How many of y'all carry a weapon when you ride? The Wife tells me that there is a lot going on in this world but she don't have to worry about it. She tells me it's my "job to protect her". I never can come up with a good argument against that statement. If we go to the city, (not the town), she always asked me if I have my weapon. I don't really want to need it, but I do have a spare tire on my pickup and I don't want to get a flat either. The Wife.

I carry the strongest weapon known to man every where I go. It's called the human brain, and it can get you in and out of trouble faster than any weapon ever will. Something to keep in mind, the worst terrorist attack to occur on US soil was carried out with box cutters, nothing more than sharp objects. There are things around you every moment of the day that are weapons, no need to carry a special one with you.

Seriously though, I'm a right to bear supporter who has a gun safe with 12 weapons it it currently from shotguns to .227s, but I have also gone through a bit of training. 9 times out of 10, you will not be in a position to retrieve your weapon when threatened.
Most criminals attempt to surprise you, they don't walk up to you while holding their gun out, they sneak up on you, or attempt to look unassuming as they approach. When a carjacker appears at your window, he has the gun pointed at your head before you have the opportunity to get your weapon out of your holster or glove box or anywhere. When a mugger sneaks up on you, he has his weapon pointed at you before his presence is apparent. Your best defense is to be aware of your surroundings.
If you are worried about the rare crazy person with a gun shooting up a crowd, then yes, that is what open carry is all about, so long as you are truly ready to pull the trigger and suffer the consequences. No matter what, there will be consequences, both legal and emotional.
Your brain can keep you out of dangerous situations much better than any weapon can get you out of them.

I only carry when traveling cross country. When riding with friends, several of which are women, i don't carry. my job is to stand in front of them and beg for our lives. That gives them time..cause they always carry.. also, if you travel with others, especially while camping out, let them know where the weapon is.. just courtesy..

I carry a pair of Springfield GI's in 45acp. Only time I'm not armed is when I go into liberal infested states like NY,NJ,and MD. 30 years and never had to use them, but felt better knowing they were there.

Try watching some police training videos, and then see how comfy carrying makes you. If you don't have your weapon out of the holster, you are in danger from anyone within 30 feet of you. This is why police are trained to pull their weapon while you are at a distance, and why they will shoot if you break a certain perimeter while armed.
Once again, I don't want to sound like I'm against carrying. I just want people to understand possessing a weapon does not in and of itself mean you are protected. Actually firing your weapon at a person will bring you misery you probably don't want to experience, both legally and emotionally.
I have personally witnessed a person point their handgun at another individual, and the target stepped forward, grabbed the gun in the wanna-be-shooter's hand, and smashed it into his face breaking his nose and spewing blood everywhere. Things don't always go the way you think they should, and a weapon can be taken away from you and used against you.

When the man at the door yelled, "Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms," I naturally assumed it was a delivery..... I make my own rounds so I can shoot a lot. I try to get out twice a week. I built a setup in my side yard. This was the first time I had my dog next to me, as you can see shes getting better.

I was having a problem hitting the targets on the right after shooting the one on the left. That was an easy fix. Don't just move the weapon. Shift my body 1 inch also. The second picture is after firing 60 rounds, 5 rounds at a time at each target. I am relatively pleased with my ability to make contact with my desired location.

Why would I advertise if I do or don't on a public forum. You will have to guess.
