I got everything tight and reconnected and still having the same problem. Turned the ratio screw out 2 turns out from bottom. I noticed when I pulled the carb and manifold off that there is an o ring on the carb then a plastic spacer but no gasket on the spacer to the head. Is there suppose to be a gasket. Could this be a problem??? Or could it be the fuel pump overloading the carb?
Thank you for all the help

Pictures are worth a thousand words I want pictures of how you fixed all that was intially wrong on the Throttle cable side of the carb. I still believe the throttle cable is already pulling on the cable or the IDLE SPEED screw is not letting it close anymore. About the gasket Very easy to find out if it is leaking anywhere. Get a spray bottle of water and spray individual areas, IF THE IDLE CHANGES you found a leak. Alleyoop

Good, I see the idle speed screw is pretty screwed in, have you turned it COUNTER CLOCKWISE and see if it lowers the idle? Alleyoop

Yeah, any less than where it is it will die So what is the idle rpms now? Before they were I think you said 3000k. Now that you have sealed things up and fixed the throttle cable try turning the fuel ratio screw clockwise and see if that will lower the idle. Can you get a Video of it running? Also On the center stand give the throttle a quick twist. Does it rev up nice and quick and come down to idle again quick or does it rev up slow or come down to idle slow etc.. All these little tricks tell what the motor might need. Alleyoop

It does rev up nice and quick and comes right down, then starts climbing after idling for a couple of minutes. I noticed raw fuel in the manifold when I pulled the carb off. It looks to be leaking from the vacuum port on the side of the manifold, it connects to the fuel pump vacuum line. Could it be a busted diaphragm in the pump leaking fuel down the vacuum line?? I have a video of it running but I will have to load it when I get home tonight from work

Could be the vacuum diaphragm in the automatic fuel tap has a hole or small tear,,, had two of those go bad on me last year,,, couldn't figure out why I couldn't get a consistent idle on either machine,,, went with clear vacuum and fuel lines and saw the problem right away so I only run clear lines,, that way a quick visual tells me the story at a glance

If the VACUUM line from the pump has gas in it then the PETCOCK is bad and is allowing gas to flow out of the Vacuum line WHICH IT SHOULD NOT, the Vacuum line should be dry. So that is where it is getting extra fuel causing you grief. Alleyoop

I have a new one on order, should be here next week. The clear lines is a good idea. Thank you both. As soon as I vet it installed I will update.

Got the new fuel pump installed and now having a hard time getting it to start easily and a smooth idle

Well now with the new Petcock not leaking through the vacuum line your getting less fuel. So now you need to adjust the fuel ratio mixtue screw to allow more fuel so turn it COUNTER CLOCKWISE 1/4 at a time DO THIS AFTER having it idle for at least 5 minutes. Tuen it counter clockwise 1/4 turn at a time and wait in between each 1/4 turn and listen for the IDLE hopefully it will go up and what you want is to set the fuel ratio to get the highest idle. Then if it is idling to high that the Rear Wheel is spinning LOWER the idle using the IDLE SPEED SCREW.

Alley is 100% correct AGAIN,,, as usual ,,you're too lean now so you have to add a little to make up for the leak

Thats good,,,,no more leak,,, and i know earlier in the thread you said you adjusted the valve clearances but i would pull the valve cover and check and/or adjust valve clearances,,,just to double check ,,,find tdc and adjust both valves to .004 inch
