So I just bought a new Lancer, straight from the warehouse by my house . While replacing all the vacum and fuel lines I realized this scoot does not have a petcock. The fuel line runs straight from the gas tank nipple to my new visu fuel filter to the carb. I removed the PAIR or PAAR system and the EGR? (vent hose coming off the gas tank going to a valve and canister) I had both for some reason. I put a fuel filter on the vent line. So is there a reason I don't have a petcock? Is this normal? And most importantly, will it hurt anything? I haven't had any problems out of it, it runs great. I'm just wondering if it was supposed to be this way or if they forgot to put one in the line. I had another line that was plugged up with a bolt. I can take some pictures if anybody is interested. Thanks for the help, only 700km in and I just want to make sure I get as much life out of this one as I did the last one.

You do have a Petcock but it is one that screws onto the bottom of your tank they look like this: Just follow the VACUUM line up to the bottom of the tank and you will see it. Alleyoop

Nope I don't have that one either. I checked. I don't have a vacuum line that goes to my tank. I'll take a picture to show you but I've replaced the fuel line. I know the next thing would be, well you had to have taken it off when you replaced the line. I assure you I did not do this. So do I need to buy one or fit a shut off? I'm just wondering if this will hurt anything or not. I'm pretty sure they forgot to put one on because I had a vac line that was plugged with a bolt. So one guy did the fuel lines then it got to the guy who does the vac lines and there was no petcock to hook it to so he just plugged it. This just shows how crappy their quality inspection process must be. Also, I bought this from a dealer who put it together. I did a PDI and noticed the missing petcock right away. They did a really bad job of assembling it. I've had to go through and redo every step. I should have told them to leave it in the crate.

WOW!! I see no petcock straight feed to the carb just the fuel filter. Well since it is gravity feed and you have no problems flooding you can leave it as is OR buy a petcock and add it the petcock. So you would exetend the short fuel hose attached to the tank so that you can get at the petcock with ease then add the petcock add the vacuum hose to it and then add the Fuel Filter and then to the carb. Just make sure everything is GOING DOWNHILL to the carb NO UPS AND DOWNS in the fuel line from the tank. Alleyoop

I've got a question, would the absence of the petcock explain why the kick-start won't start my scoot on a cold start? My cheap battery craps out sometimes and I've never been able to kick it alive except when it's already been warmed up. I'll look to see if I have the canister your talking about, maybe they just didn't hook it up. I've had all the body panels off, maybe I overlooked it? I can't think of any reason it wouldn't have any kind of fuel delivery deal going to the carb. It's definitely a mystery to what happened. You did give me a great idea though. Mine is under warranty also, I'm gonna be giving them a call Monday. At least I won't have to come out of pocket for one.
