Just thought of something after re-reading and you said you changed the weights. Did you check and or replace the Plastic guides if one is missing or broke then the variator plate will be rattling on the metal guide and ruining it. Alleyoop thanks Alley but no i never even opened my transmission

Well maybe it is time to take the Variator off and check the weights and plastic guides. I bet that is what is rattling. If you have some miles on it the rollers will have flat spots. Alleyoop

No need for a gasket on the CVT, all it really does is prevent vibration.

Yep, usually the first time you take the CVT cover off some of the gasket rips so just pull the whole thing off it does nothing really. I haven't had a gasket on mine over 5 years. Alleyoop
