There is a lot of controversy going on about that automobile. Will it ever be approved by the feds and many states are against it as an incorrect motorcycle. It' also very doubtful it can be built for that price. The lost the contract for the original engine/drive train so now changing to a different one. So the date it will finally go on sale is unknown.

Yea that is like a CAN AM really And I agree I do not believe he can build those for $6,800.00 The Fiberglass body alone is worth about that much. Maybe he forgot a 1 in front of the 6, $16,800 heck the can ams are 15K and go up into the 30K range.

Don't hold your breath. I think it is just a pipe dream. Bet it will never get thru a crash test.
It has been many moons since any one made a basic car and that will probably never happen again. I bought a new 88 yugo and for what it was, it was a great car and the last basic car on our market that I knew of. I paid $2800 and it even had a heater....no radio though, lasted 65,000 miles almost trouble free, then I traded it for getting my 9 ft ceiling drywall hung.

I kinda like it,,,having 3 wheels it classifies as a motorcycle,,so there's alot of crash regs that can be skirted,,,i hope it flies it would be neat to have especially in parts of the country that have shorter riding seasons,,,and you could always shoehorn a hybusa mill in it to give it a little more GIT!!!!!

Think it's success will relate to how the states classify it.
As a motorcycle it will require a M license and less tests and as a car more people would be able to drive it. In days of old the iseta was a car and the robin also a car. As a motorcycle trike there are a small select group of riders That buy into that form of riding and with a lower price there might be a few more.
I ride because I like to be out there in the elements (in decent weather) free so to speak and a trike will come only as a last resort to being able to ride.

Many states will not recognize it as a motorcycle. The seating and steering are wrong for that. The seat must be a saddle and it must have handle bars. It has bucket seats and a steering wheel.

I'd love to have one of these. I'm on the list too. Too bad corporate America totally hates it.

History seems to repeat it self..... do a search on 20TH CENTURY MOTOR CORP. The DALE car. A scam in the 70's. 3 wheel very similar to the elio. The scammer was liz carmichael a transsexual who's real name was jerry michael. Did the same as the elio people in asking for advance money. Think it was a card board proto type held together with 2x4's.
