Does any body know how to get apart the Dash on a TaoTao EVO 150cc scooter ? I have taken the mirrors off and the 4 screws in the side you can see from sitting on the bike, plus the other one in the front of the fairing, but I can not get the 2 pieces apart, I have lightly pried on them and wiggled them but I'm afraid to put too much pressure on them as it seems like they will break. BTW the reason I want to get them apart is because of the black part in the middle is cracked and so is the underside of the right front side thats red and every time I hit a bump the cracks have been getting bigger, so I want to repair them with epoxy. I've watched a video of someone taking the pieces off to change a speedo cable and it look like he just kept prying until they separated...are there TABS that need to come apart ? or is it really just that hard to get apart ? I don't want to break it, but I do need to get it apart. I have included a picture of what part it is and where the screws are located. Any help would be great.

are you sure there are no screws UNDER the Dash usually by each handgrip under there and they do have tabs so once you find all the screws holding the top to the bottom pry it with a screwdriver easy. If you can find a parts manual for the dash that would show and help to know where the tabs are.

Does any body know how to get apart the Dash on a TaoTao EVO 150cc scooter ? That'll get the Job done! No, but seriously, once you've double checked for all screws, slowly and without much force, pry apart any section that has play, it should allow you to peek in between the two faring and locate the locking tabs. These farings are not held together with just screws, they "interlock" ... You have to find to the locking tabs, apply pressure in the right spot, and pry them apart.. I've done this with the same type of dash you're working on... It's a PITA and very easy to break.

Ok I think I found the problem and here is the cover only 4 screws BUT here is the Instrument panel and LOOK at the tabs one in the top center and one on each side on the bottom that is holding the cover nice and tight against things. Alleyoop

Hey Alleyoop, thanks for the pics that show where the "Tabs" are at, maybe it will make it easier to pry apart. I couldn't find them for nuttin and I was looking thru the opening under the handle bars with a flash light and couldn't see crap. I had to Work Saturday at 2PM until Midnight and Sunday it rained here so I haven't had a chance to go outside and try to get it apart yet, but as soon as I get another cup of coffee in me I'm gonna go try and take it apart again. I'll post again here when I do (or don't) get it apart with a couple of pictures and how I got it apart and back together.
