Just installed a Jenson Motorcycle/marine radio and two speakers. Flush mounted the speakers into the dash and installed antenna. Looks lovely. Went to turn the radio on and it works awesome...until I start the trike. While the motor is on the sound of the radio cuts in and out! I followed all manufacture directions except I didn't run the power to an accessory, instead straight to the battery with a toggle in between. Could that be my problem? I ran the ground to the frame. Someone please help, I have one more day off tomorrow before going back to work and I'd rather go to the beach.

Motor noise. All kinds of devices sold to combat this. Capacitors, spark plugs, spark plug wires, various forms of shielding. Would help to figure out where it is coming from and them go from there. Measure the voltage on the battery terminal to see that it is with in reason. You could temporarily power it with a completely seperate battery and then start your scooter and see if it still does it. There are resistor plugs and wires for the plug meant to eliminate motor noise. It will probably take a whole bunch od detective work.

dude, your scaring me!
Luckily before I read your reply, I found a black accessory wire that also lights up the dash and used it to power the radio. I think it fixed my issue. Gonna go on a test run right now. So far I have figured out all my trike issues except for the damn wobble! I took the back tires to every place under the sun and no one wants to balance them!

Alleyoop My wife drove around to different shops and perhaps nobody wanted to remove the rims rhemselves and I understand that. The only time I took the tires off for this reason, I took them to Pep Boys and apparently they tried and said they were just not able. I didn't argue because the guys that work at my neighborhood Pep Boys are truly miserable angry people. I'll try again. Thanks Alleyoop. Whats the purpose of larger tires?

There are several liquid and bead balancing accessories. This is one of them - www.compacc.com/counteract_balancingI look see if I can locate some more on the motorcycle site I go to.

Taller tires more top end speed Remember a bigger wheel covers more ground in 1 rotation than a smaller wheel. Also the KENDA 205/65-10 3" taller tires are much softer and better ride than the 255/40-10 tires it came with. Alleyoop

Yes tire's some time has been a problem what help me was I broke tire from rim turned tire and added air it did help me balance but it may take a couple of trys before I got them to balance. As far as tirec size when they were out I have 14 inch on rear of my Zodiacs hoping larger will give me more belly clearance all 3 of them have only 3 3/4 inches not much would love to see 4 to five inches. But that will be down the road a bit. My New one just came in on Thursday I'm getting ready to change gear fluid and engine before start up then I run it a short time drain oil again and refill and test after chain adjustment and put on rear clip. Now we have a total of 3- 2- 20015 and one 2013 2 white 1 red.

Now, the radio does well at an idle but cuts in and out during higher rpm's. What the heck? I tried contacting Jensen for an answer but haven't heard from them yet. What exactly needs shielded?

Pretty much depends on the individual radio. Listen to jenson. Most manufactures have kits for supressing noise. Could be the rf noise from spark plug comes in thru the ant, and being stronger than the radio signal the rf amp shuts down adjusting automaticly to level of spark signal and radio station signal is lost.

There used to be spark plugs with RF filters built in and sparkplug cable ends that attach to the plug the had the RF filter. Or you may need one of those kits jct842 mentions. This used to be a problem on older cars and motorcycles.
