I have a 50cc tank urban 50 moped. My Dad was trying to start it and had the kill switch off so it wouldn't start by the time I got there the solenoid would just make a clicking sound. I have replaced the solenoid and the starter motor but it still just clicks. I know the battery is still good and it will still start and run with the kick start.

Attach jumper cables from your scooter to your car. Do NOT start your car. Try to start your scooter. If it starts, you need a new battery even though you think you don't.

How about charging the battery your dad drained the battery so now it needs to be charged.

I have tried charging the battery and hooking it up to my truck but the solenoid still just clicks.

Here is your Solenod, Touch the TWO TERMINALS with a screwdriver and see if it spins your starter get back on the test. Alleyoop  |

I've already tried the screw driver on the solinoid and it does not spin the starter

Then your battery is crapola or you starter is shot. So now take your jumper wires connected to your truck and connect it to the battery and NOW TOUCH the two terminals. IF it spins your stater then your battery is crapola IF it still does not spin your starter then your starter has gone south.
Or you can take the POSITIVE jumper wire from your trucks battery and hook it up straight to the starter connector and then take the NEGATIVE and just touch the motor. If it spins your starter your starter is good and you have a bad battery or bad connections from the battery to the SOLENOID and to the starter.
Remember touching the two terminals on the SOLENOID is actually WHAT HAPPENS INSIDE THE SOLENOID when you squeeze the brakes to send voltage to the SOLENOID and when you push the START Button is GROUNDS the SOLENOID to complete the circuit and inside it touchs both terminals from the inside and pass's the 12volts from the battery to the starter.
WITH A GOOD BATTERY and if it CLICKS then that means the SOLENOID is bad inside. That is why testing by touching the two terminals will tell which is bad, SOLENOID or WEAK BATTERY. NOrmally if the starter goes you will get a HUMMING when voltage is applied.

I connected the jumper cables to the battery and bridged the terminals of the solinoid and it still just clicks. But when I connected the power cable to the starter and grounded it on the moter it did start up. There was a wire to the solinoid and a harness that hasn't been replaced with the solinoid or the starter so I brought the two in to a parts house and they are both still good. So I connected the jumper cables directly to the wires off the moped battery and the solinoid still clicks.

IF you jumped your battery in the scoot and you touched both TERMINALS on the SOLENOID and it did not spin your starter What you have is bad connections from the battery to the SOLENOID and or the Wire on the other TERMINAL ON THE SOLENOID to the STARTER. If you can take pictures of your battery wire going to the solenoid and wire going to the starter that would help. NOW are you sure the WIRE ON THE NEGATIVE POST ON THE BATTERY IS GROUNDED TO THE FRAME? |

Yep Loose connections Or wired wrong since he jumped the battery and touched both terminals on the solenoid and it did not spin the starter no other scenario.

So you know how to connect the battery and solenoid and starter: 1. The thick red wire goes on the POSITIVE POST of the battery. 2. The OTHER END of the THICK RED WIRE goes to ONE of the TERMINALS ON THE SOLENOID. 3. The Thick Wire on the NEGATIVE POST OF THE BATTERY GOES TO THE FRAME GROUND. 4. The OTHER TERMINAL ON THE SOLENOID THE WIRE GOES TO THE STARTER. 5. The thin wires going coming out of the SOLENOID HAS A PLUG ON THE END and that plugs into the HARNESS. 6. The Thin YELLOW/GREEN wire goes to the BRAKES 7. The Thin YELLOW/RED wire goes to the START BUTTON.  |

It is WIRED WRONG BRO. What is that GREEN WIRE CONNECTED TO THE POSITIVE POST OF THE BATTERY ALONG WITH THE RED THICK WIRE?. It looks to me that THAT THE GREEN WIRE GOES TO a TERMINAL on the SOLENOID AND ALSO THE RED WIRE GOES to the OTHER TERMINAL on the SOLENOID.( IS THAT RIGHT)  |
