EXACTLY! With all of this increased buzz about veterans in Washington these days, I hope some of them actually mean it and work hard to finally show some honor to those whom have shown it for us! Thank you!

EXACTLY! With all of this increased buzz about veterans in Washington these days, I hope some of them actually mean it and work hard to finally show some honor to those whom have shown it for us! Thank you! Your welcome! It is very nice in this day and age that folks are actually thinking about us Vets and thanking us for our service. Not only on Veterans day, but all year long. I have folks in the shop all the time and when they see my Vet stickers, POW flag ect., they asked if I served and then Thank me. It does give one a warm feeling. As many older Vets, (like myself) know, this was not always true. During Vietnam and afterwards most did not use words of praise when talking to or about Veterans. When returning from overseas, we were spat on and called names like baby killers and worse. Back then, there were no Parades for returning Vets or folks lining up at the Airport to welcome us home. Now it is common place and that my friends means more to a Vet that any of you will ever know. So I say, Thank You! for thinking about us and taking the time to show us you do care!!!!!! Jim/ MSgt, USAF Retired 1971-1991

rapidjim , And you deserve SO much more than the thanks, and warm and grateful thoughts going your way for the sacrifice of self and risk that you decided upon ... "There is no greater love than that one would sacrifice himself for another". And those whom recognize love, know yours. It was a tragedy, the shame associated with Vietnam that was displaced onto our Vets. May we remember where any shame truly belongs, with those whom would misuse their position to carry out hidden and selfish goals. May we work against it, and always remember where the gratitude belongs. Keep heart Jim, and stow in it the awareness that , even those that once were deceived in past, are no longer deceived, and are with you !

Only in a country this great can people the likes of Hanoi jane that caused all the problems for the returning vets still walk the streets. (and the draft dodgers) I mustered out just as vietnam was in its infancy. The thought of those people still make me want to puke.

Thank you Olivertwisted for your kind words and feelings expressed/ Only in a country this great can people the likes of Hanoi jane that caused all the problems for the returning vets still walk the streets. (and the draft dodgers) I mustered out just as vietnam was in its infancy. The thought of those people still make me want to puke. The subject of Hanoi Jane (Jane Fonda for those who don't know), is still alive. I really doubt that any Vet will forget what she did, and this great Country should not forget. The same is true of Draft Dodgers that ran and then was given amnesty. When I went to the NCO Academy, we had a Retired Full Colonel (Vietnam Vet) as a guest speaker, he spoke quite abit about her, Draft Dodgers and protesters, he ended his speech with the words, That's one of the things we were fighting for, to give them the freedom to speak their minds.

I was a Sergeant in VietNam when Jane Fonda visited the North. On our mountain top out-post the day it was discussed on the radio she got a near 100% approval rating. It was agreed the president of the U.S. should have been there with her. And we fully accept the return of those that left for Canada after receiving orders for VietNam but not those that left before enlistment.

While I agree with most I still say why do we enter war and not do it to win. We never learn from the past we are always fighting with one arm tied when we bomb Germany and japan everything was far game to win that's war this started when the DMZ was done in Korea.

Hanoi Jane's got nothing on Obama. I was just a bit young for 'Nam, but I still served and got shot at. Only we weren't allowed to shoot back. What kind of fun is that? So we'd lob flash bangs over at them. After that we could get some sleep. LOL
The supposed leaders we have right now are complicit in treason. Do we still have the death penalty for that?
